The sea air is the first thing you smell walking out of the airport. The next aroma is something akin to a pig farm. Fortunately, the aroma is gone by arrival in the city itself.
Lesson-of-the-day 1 Always have your own personal toilet paper. (No need for the details of how I learned that)
Smashing weather. Warm people. All I want to do is sleep, except curiousity keeps me awake.
Lesson 2 It is impossible to eat cuy without your fingers. (I kept trying for a long time with knife and fork, and only after about ten minutes of crumb sized bit of food did I realize the waiter had put 4 extra napkins on the table with a knowing smile.)
Great museums here. At the Nacion there was one complete floor of PreColumbian life shown completely with ceramics. I was a happy camper.
Tonight I´m off to Arequipa where I hope to actually catch up on sleep and get the Spanish lessons stated. More in a few days
