The nicest people I have ever met. Opened their home to me, had me for dinner...it was a good night and a pleasure to meet them.
Today went over and met Gary's parents. You'll never meet nicer people than those two. Home cooked meal, good conversation...and it is nice to meet people you have heard about for a long time. Gary's father Bill is an amazing story - first ultra-marathoner I have met. Can you believe he has run races that were 100 miles long? Yes, run! On his own two feet! Or run 48 hour endurance races? And his mother Carol - well, being able to put up with Gary is like a non-stop ultra-marathon in itself. (Gary, you know what I am saying). Anyway, had a great dinner and really enjoyed myself.

Afterwards we did some driving around to see some sights. We drove out to the Mansfield Dam, which separates Lake Travis and Lake Austin. On the cliffs above Lake Travis is a restaurant called the Oasis. It's three floors, with massive deck areas that all hang out over the lake! Awesome! I hope I get a chance to go eat there before I leave Austin. Also drove just down the road from the Oasis and checked out Hippie Hollow briefly, where Gary tells me it is acceptable to skinny dip. Not that

This is just a small taste. Bet YOU have never come close to this level of achievement, have you?
I would do that, but i sure would take my camera with me. You know, to photograph the lake and stuff.

Tomorrow (31st) is the trip to San Antonio to see the Alamo, the River Walk, the Hemisphere, etc, so stay tuned for that.

P.S. Happy Anniversary, Mom and Dad! Thirty seven years! Wow! I don't know how you got through those first three years before I was born, but I know the rest was a blessing. Love you both.

It's amazing they can still smile after all these years of raising Gary.

From what I hear, this place is just one giant nude beach full of happy college coeds. Well, when it is summer and not the middle of the night, anyway.
See?See?
See?

I told you it was a nude beach! It just isn't a nude parking lot. That's okay, because what fun would that be?

Anniversary
Chris - Thanks for your comments on our Anniversary. I wish Dad had been here - was lonely without him. He said he sent me flowers but due to some mixup, they never arrived.
