Well we are leaving Saigon tonight (19/10/05),

we booked a train trip on a soft sleeper to Hoi An, we leave at 10.30pm.

I have come to the conclusion that Saigon rocks, the streets are choas and annachy but they really do seem to have order, the people are freindly and the food and beer is cheap.

We visited the cu chi tunnels today, these tunnels streached for 100's of kms over the west of Saigon, nearly to the Cambodian border during the "American War", and they actually were started during the French war.

As you all know, I quite a small fella, and fitted into the tunnels quite eaisly, but one poor old New Zealander got stuck in the trapdoor and it took 5 people to rip him out :>, I'll show u all the vid when I return.

The tunnels were very, very, very touristy, but it's one of those things you just have to vist when comming to a country.

We crawled thru 50 meters of the original tunnel, I was crouched and still smacked my head into the caven. It was quite amusing with Cambo on my tail while crawling thru, I don't think he quite had it as easy as I. These poor buggers lived in these tunnels for months on end, they had War rooms, Kitchens, Hostpitals, Sleeping quarters all while the Yankies droped millions of tons worth of Chemicals, Napalm and bombs right on top of them.

As a little side attraction to the tunnels, we were given the oportunity to shoot pretty much any kind of gun we wanted, (for a price that is). The closest thing to a real gun I have ever fired was at the Skirmish field while slaughtering all my mates with paint. This was a new experience for me and probably wont get the chance again.

So for 20 bucks US, I got to shoot an AK-47 and a M30 Machine gun, well what a pack they punch. (About 10 shots each) And how loud are they !!!!. Glad I took my ear plugs along. The guns were used in the vietnam war and were used within the tunnels, I don't know how an ear drum would have survived when firing a AK47 within a enclosed space like the tunnel system.

I hope all is well all at home and work with all of you, please keep the comments comming. I do review them all every few days when we hit an Internet cafe and it's a great reminder of home.
