BulaBulaBula

Daily tides
So, we woke up to a few clouds. Kinda sucks, but it is so hard to complain when you are amongst all this beauty!

From the next few days, i will admit, my posts may be a bit boring. You see, we have finally entered into the "honeymoon" portion of this trip - consisting of walks on the beach, naps by the pool, massages with the ocean sound in the background, and delicious meals. So, i know you don't want to hear all the mundane information of our full day - even if we had to sit under the shade to shield us from the rain - so a few fun things i will talk about instead.

The food - yum. (Yes Bari, i am going to talk about all our meals - stop reading if it bothers you). Breakfast we had the freshest fruit - love the papaya - banana pancakes, and papaya french toast. Lunch again was our choice - and we went for the yellow fin tuna sandwich and chicken wraps. But dinner, boy - that was chefs choice. Started with some homemade spring rolls wiht plum dipping sauce, fresh fish kokanda (like ceviche) which had

He always knows when its meal time
a nice jalepeno kick, followed by fresh caught lobsters (these were the funniest looking things i have ever seen - so big, and very cool colors. didn't taste exactly like the lobster we are used to back home - it was a little tougher to chew, but still yummy).

With dinner we were entertained by a local fijian band playing island music. And we also got to sit with them and drink kava in a traditional kava ceremony. Kava is a local plant in the area, that has been dried and powdered very fine. They mix it in a bowl of water strained through a cloth like bag made from a coconut tree. Basically, we sat around in a circle and passed the coconut cup around and took our turns drinking - preceeded with the curtious "Bula" and followed by the respectful clap. Kava is sometimes used as an herbal medicine as a stress reliever. Sometimes you feel the numbing of your lips or throat, and you get very relaxed, and sometimes it may even cause hallucinations or wild dreams. Don't worry mom, they only gave us very small cups to each of their cupfuls. And I really didn't feel too much, but by the end of the night, i was damn tired. (Some technical information I will admit I got from Wikipedia, because as Michael Scott says: "Wikipedia is the best thing ever. Anyone in the world can write anything they want about any subject, so you know you are getting the best possible information.")

Kava
The food sounds mouth watering but you can forget the Kava - probably the worst thing I have tasted
