We've been in London since the end of July. Filling our nostrils with black soot, stomping through concrete streets, being shunted through underground tunnels, working on the recruitment for an investment bank, serving Lords, Russian oligarchs, and celebrity chefs fine wine, and getting on with whining about everything, as you do here. But in all of this there have been short visions of splendour - weekends. Which we have spent rushing around trying to cram in as much fresh air, greenery and loveliness as possible. Kew Gardens was a highlight, it is a very posh, well manicured huge park of lawns, beautiful old trees, glasshouses, and a few castles. We went there on one of the best day's of summer, and did a double picnic feat - lunch and dinner. Richmond Park though, has to be the best park in the world, huge... with rolling English wild countryside, deer roaming, and all the Pride and Prejudice and Wuthering Heights vibes you could ever hope for...

English roses.
Hi Xavier and Sarah! I have thoroughly enjoyed the writing you both have been contributing to this blog. Such witty, interesting and precise entries. The photos make me all tingly -- partly with jealously, mostly with appreciation for such beautifully composed sights -- I hope weekends in London are always a decent respite. (This is a lazy, sneaky, belated birthday wish for the 23rd of November to you too Xav!) Be well S and X, love Zoë.
