Toa Payoh Singapore

What started out as a dream has become a reality. Without dreams, life would have been a mistake

This was a mini class gathering for 6 of us @ Shallene's sister's aka Audrey Food Addict Cafe @ Blk 185 Toa Payoh Central. One year on, all of us are relatively comfortable with our current jobs. Some took on a couple of jobs before settling down. Others were luckier, their first job was a right on. For others, being their own boss meant 200%!m(MISSING)ore commitment and 200%!m(MISSING)ore overtime than usual office workers like us.

Anyway, few people would expect a cafe to exist in an unexpected spot along a stretch of beauty salons and handphone shops. While seated outside that evening, we observed that it has managed to attract no less than twenty curious looks from passerbys.

The 2 month old cafe served a delectable servings of pizzas, pastas, baked rice and an assortment of smoothies. For starters, the Hot Chessy Wedges & Hotdogs promised to thrill. For the mains, a must try is the Hot Chicken with Wedges and the Pizza with Floss toppings. End your meals with a selection of Homemade ice creams and brownies.

The cafe has managed to weather its initial hiccups and has built up a loyal customer base from the offices nearby. Given its small and cosy ambience, it may be difficult to find seats during peak hours.

The Verdict: Expect the Unexpected

Food Addict is probably the few places to go for good food without burning a big hole in your pockets. Give it a try when you are sick of the commercialised taste of restaurants and cafes offering the usual fares. You be the best judge! Readers may be pleased to note that all prices are nett (no hidden frills) and deliveries are possible. Takeaways are always welcome!

I will give a 4 out of 5 stars rating for the food and of course, Audrey's courage of pursuing her dreams in mediocre Singapore.

Getting There: Don't be a 迷路兵

Open 7 days a week from lunch till dusk, Food Addict is located a mere 5 minutes walk from Toa Payoh MRT Station. Check out the last image in this entry for address. And I heard that there are plans to introduce another outlet @ Bishan in the near future.

Check it Out @ http://www.straitstimes.com/ST+Forum/Online+Story/STIStory_141098.html

P.S. Food Addict have since rolled down their shutters as I chatted with S over the Chinese New Year holidays in 2009. It was a pity.

Commernts from Colleagues (1)
They do delivery??? For a start, seating area is too limited. Cake is nice, haven’t tried the food yet, because most of the time when we pass by the place is full. But it is good to have the shop in Toa Payoh, of what we observed, TP has yet to have this kind of eating outlet yet.

Comments from Colleagues (2)
I definitely agree that the guys and girls there are friendly. Like what Colleague 1 mentioned, space is a constraint. If I pay the price, then I would like to stay longer lorh….and not to mention that Deli France is just opposite. That is a heavy threat to them.
