Beautiful at sunset
Here are some pictures from a day spent in Paris. The Eiffel Tower was everything I imagined it to be and more. The view from the top is spectacular but the queues are forever long. Its worth the wait the first time around, but I think that I will climb the stairs for a shorter queue the next time I visit. The Champs-Élysées is one of the most famous streets in the world. With rents as high as $1.25 million a year for 1,000 sq ft of space, it remains the 2nd most expensive strip of real estate in the world after New York City's Fifth Avenue. The Arc de Triomphe is a monument that stands in the centre of the Place Charles de Gaulle at the western end of the Champs-Élysées. This roundabout boasts one of the highest accident rates in the world. It is the only place in Paris where the accidents are not judged. No matter what the circumstances, insurance companies split the costs 50-50.

I saw mostly the highlights in Paris and am looking forward to going back and exploring the city some more. Paris is huge and I still have so much more to see!

I plan on going back and visiting the Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris, Basilique du Sacré-Coeur de Montmartre, Montparnasse Tower and exploring the Louvre. They say that of the 420,000 items in the possession of the Louvre, only 30,615 are on public display. If you were to spend one minute in front of each work of art it would take you three weeks with no breaks of eating or sleeping! I don´t have that long, but I am planning on seeing Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa and Alexandros of Antioch's Venus de Milo for sure. Pictures are not allowed unfortunately so I´m not sure what I´ll be able to pull off.

Thanks so much for all of the emails...it always brings a smile on my face when I get a note from back home. Miss you tons!
