Thursday night we began to make good friends with Jose , who works at Mad, he is a geat guy, he would chat with us & the fench group in his time off, which was mostly days. Hello also to Pia, Jose´s neice. Then friday night, chris went to bed early so i stayed up talking to Jose, about everything and nothing, mainly trying to improve my spanish, Jose can speak, French, Spanish, Basque, Sign language and i think italian... During the day we didn´t do much, just walked around, ate food & window shopped. Saturday we met Jenna & Emma jenna is another aussie, Emma is from england they were in our room and we hung out with them sat night & went to a really dodgy club, that was empty, but they played good music so we warmed up there, then we went to this really expensive club, but got in for free as it was 3 girls to 1 guy and also got a free drink on arrival, it had a stage, a small one, & lots of huge collums with blue/greenish lighting going up then in patterns, and there was a lounge style section. By the way the drinks work as if you ask for a mixer drink, such as vodka and orange juice they fill up a tall class half full with the spirit then half mixer, so strong, you can´t really drink it!
Then suday i got up early and went to the local markets, which were a slight dissapointment in that they are very commercial, but i managed to get some nice earings & souviniers & a cool pair of pants (knee length, very cool)
sunday night we went out for chinese (very cheap & good chris & i had gone there 4 dinner fri night) with Emma, Jenna, Jose, and some people jose invited form the hostel - Kip (Joe), steve, margaret, fiona & someone else who i can´t remember off the top of my head! But it was great and we finished it off with drinks in the bar at the hostel
We were thinking of heading to portugal next, as we have a week before we meet chris B (thats the lollies one adele) but we decided to stay close by and are going to one of the other islands instead
The beach in valencia, is awful, so polluted we are desperate for a nice beach, by tuesday aussies had overun valencia, in wait of the tomato festival, i would say that half of the festival was amde up of aussies, there were approx 45,000 people, it was nuts, we didn´t take our cameras due to the likelyhood of them being stolen/broken/lost. It was amazing, before it started we met these three girls from Australia, Fab, Kirsten & Emma and we decided to stick together there was such adrenilen people were crammed together barely able to move your arms, waiting being hosed down with water from people´s balconey´s and when the truck came passed we were even more squished because all the people in the middle of the street had to move to the sides!!! after that we thought it would be best ot move into a side street, where it was stil packed but we had room to move, when we were half way another truck came though and people started pushing into the side street, i lost chris & the girls and was being carried along byu the crowd, i lost my shoes & my feet weren´t touching the ground!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! eventually it thinned out and i recognised the girls becuase they were wearing matching blue dresses, if it wasn´t for them chris & i might´ve missed eachother, but chris was sweet, he had been standing on top of a bin trying to find me. I was so releived to get out, it is easy to see how people could be crushed in that crowd. Then when we recovered we decided to find a tomatoe dumping point, and we were soon walking in a running river of red, it stank, no-one ever tells you how bad it smells, it smells soooooooooooooooo bad, but we picked up handfuls of sloshy tomatoes & water & started throwing them at each other, when we would miss & hit someone we didn´t know, they would throw stuff back at us... It was crazy & fun, we were overed in stinky juice from head to toe... & the 40 minute train back to Valencia, abosolutley REEKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But it was worth it, would i do it again? Yes, but i would get there earlier & stay away from the middle of the crowd! and take a change of clothes. I had bought some cheap 3 euro ones and threw them out when i got back to the hostel. After la tomatina we couldn´t get back into our hostel for a few hours, so we went with the girls back to their hotel which had a pool, and showered, sawm, and ate! Thanks girls, enjoy the rest of your trip!
Yesterday, at La Tomatina and everywhere in Valencia it was 46 degrees!
