One of the many deserted ruins of Barkerville

Hey everyone...

Just a few photo's to share with everyone.

Ryan and I arrived in Prince George Friday evening and have spent the last few days visiting and playing with some of his friends. We've been staying with some of his friends (Mike and Nicole) who Ryan grew up with here and we've had a great time. Unfortunately the boys have to work on recovering their ego's as us girls kicked their butts royally at pictionary!

Unfortunately we haven't had the best weather thus far on our holidays. It rained off and on Saturday but we were able to go out to Mike's cabin to waterski for a bit...the water was FREEZING though so we all lasted for one run only. Today we spent the day at the lake waterskiing which was awesome, poor Ryan now has a sun burn but it was worth it-there's no better way to spend a day than at the lake! And thankfully Mike was able to play "hookie" from work...the flu just hit him hard this morning...lol!

Ryan and I spent yesterday in Barkerville which is a couple of hours from Prince George. It's similar to Heritage Park in Calgary but on a smaller scale. The town had a lot of history although to be honest, there was too much information to read and remember. Basically the town was a thriving centre during the gold rush but in 1930 (??going by memory here) the amount of gold being retrieved began to decline and there was a huge fire that destroyed most of the buildings on the main road. After that, the town never recovered and became a ghost town.

Tomorrow Ryan and I are heading to Kimberly for a few days to camp (if the weather is nice!) before heading to Medicine Hat for a few days. I shall keep you posted!

Take care-Michelle

ps...Aafja and Nico..your maple syrup and nib's have been mailed...hope they make it through customs/security!
