Trying to restore. I think only photos will show. We are now (August 22) in Bolivia and loving it.

Arequipa, the White City, is built of a very white stone that is blinding in the noonday light. Apparently, the nuns all got cataracts so they had to paint the walls of the monastery in wonderful colours.

We spent the afternoon without taking a single breath; the driver was a maniac and had never used a clutch in his life.

Apparently, they are not allowed to kill you at night.

But don't look too hard at the welding. We plunged down almost vertical dunes, luckily strapped in.

Before being polluted with sand buggies, of course. We also risked our lives sandboarding down precipitous slopes.

We flew over the Nazca Lines in a 4-seater. I'd go back tomorrow, it was so much fun.

Once we were launched and bouncing around in the air, I looked down at the meters, only to notice that the fuel guage wasn't working or the plane was empty. Too scared to ask the pilot, who seemed oblivious.

The view was just stunning. We haven't put in any photos of the Nazca Lines or etchings (?) as others have taken professional photos.

Apparently, most passengers need plastic bags. We got down in rare shape, all of us totally thrilled.

Arequipa, the White City, is very very beautiful.

This is the entrance to a bank. Not unlike the BNZ in Henderson.

... giving up all wordly attachments and entering the Monasterio Sta. Catalina. This monastery/convent was like a city inside a city (Arequipa).
