Last Day

Well, I sit here with an hour to burn before doing the airport dance. I have been in a nice place called the Hotel Pacande for the past two days enjoying the nice park area, mango milkshakes and awesome hamburgers. I also visited the dentist yesterday for an hour doing cavities and this morning getting the whitening treatment. That was actually pretty painful because they put this lip separator on you that feels like you are having a baby out of your mouth. I was actually doing the lamaze breathing method that I learned with Midorii in class when Arisa was born. Midori never did use it, so it was nice to know that I could put the knowledge to some use all these years later. I spent over 4 hours total in the dentist between getting my chipped front teeth fixed, the cavity repairs, cleaning that hadn´t been done for 20 years and finally getting them whitened. Total cost was $420. Not bad I thought.

This has been a great trip in all, although I know it is my last to this area. On to new sights and sounds..... But I take with me the many memories of the kindness and politeness of the people who live here and a real appreciation for the patience that they have with each other. I also get the inevitable appreciation for the country where I come from. It gets where you focus on all the negative things about the US, but in the end, I wouldn´t live anywhere else.... we have the best of everything with nature beyond compare, varieties of food and restaurants that are most often better than the regions where they originate, all kinds of interesting and crazy people and the best music anywhere.... first thing tomorrow morning I will be heading for the nearest breakfast buffet. My favorite American invention!!!
