We decided to wake up early, get on train and just get on and off in different cities in the South of France before heading to Girona, Spain for the night. Marseilles was a short stop as there seemed to be alot of constuction and we ended up back in Avignon for lunch at the train station. Then we made our way through the south headed toward Perpignan.

My camera died once again at the fair last night and I lost my EU electrical adaptor. As a result, I have no way to show you pictures of these cities, but they were straight out of a Dali painting. Very surreal landscapes, blue, blue water and long white beaches. Everything was kind of flat and strange.

By the time we got to Perpignan we were starving, but there was nothing open until 8 pm. So, if you are going to Perpignan, please eat something first. We spent about two hours waiting in the train station looking at the vending machine. Not true. We did look around the town a bit, but there was little to see as everything was closed.

Dali said that the Perpignan train station was the center of the universe and where he got all of his best ideas. So even if they didn´t feed us, its still kind of cool to be in the center of the universe.

We made it to Girona, Spain about 8 pm and checked into a hostel that was filled with Spanish kids learning English. It was clean and fine and in a good part of town (I also got to check the internet for the first time here- relief).

We had our first tapas dinner (bravas, gambas, and empanadas) at a place just under the foot of the town church. Girona is very medievil and still has the original roman wall towers surrounding part of the city. Part of it also reminded me of Venice, or what I think Venice would be like anyway as I´ve never been. Long skinny bridges over canals. Lots of laundry hanging outside and colorful buildings. I was really happy to be in Spain and even more excited about being in Barcelona the next day!

Note: Unfortunately, no pics to show you of this either as my mom´s camera was later lost on a beach in Barcelona. So, you´ll just have to use your imagination for this entry.

I just got your postcard from Girona yesterday! Glad I have your blogs to keep me company as the steady stream of postcards slows to a trickle.
