Besalu and Pepe

After all my buddies left Cadaques Pepe and I took a day trip to Besalu . . . What? You’ve never heard of it? That’s ok, neither have I. When I was at the castle hotel they gave me a map of the region, so I randomly picked a place to drive to and this was it! It’s a cute little medieval town built about an hour and a half west of Cadaques. That’s about all I know about Besalu.

I love driving manual cars. It brings back great memories of high school/college and my Volkswagen Sirocco. Good times. But after ten days of Pepe, I was ready to part ways. He really needed some Viagra. We’d be fine and then we’d hit fourth gear and he just couldn’t keep up. This made for a longer ride back to return him in Barcelona. I did get lucky on the way back with the radio though. There was a station playing “flashback” something. I’m not quite sure what they were flashing back to but it was all American/English popular music (flashback to the West maybe?) Anyway, it helped the time go by a little quicker since it took longer than usual to drive back due to Pepe’s lack of performance.

I sent a couple more days in Barcelona in the Barceloneta area. I really like this area, more my speed and close to the old part of town which is really cool.

Happy 4th of July back home! (. . . I know, I’m not up to date on the blog, but we can pretend.)

Very quaint little town
Cute! Yes, and happy fourth to you as well over yonder!! Spain is truly beautiful. If you get the chance, Spain is one of the worlds leaders in olive oil production. Find a great vineyard and watch how they press the oil from the olives. Very interesting and Spanish olive oil rullllez!!

We're so jealous!!!!!
Spain really seems wonderful. I was there 44 years ago (happy to see it's still there). The Dali pictures of his home were wonderful. We have two signed and numbered lithographs in our home but no eggs in them. Anxious for you to get to Africa. Love and we're proud of you, Aunt Mary & Uncle Dick
