Today at Santa Elena Health Clinic they worked my but off! They finally figured out that I have a medical back ground and put it to use.

It felt really good to finally be doing some good with the people and not just the llama and puppy. I took vitals, lost count on how many vaccinations for yellow fever I gave, gave shots antibiotics in the butt, and wound care. They showed me how they chart and where to put my information. So I feel as if I’m getting their system down.

The language barrier is still an issue, however, I think more for me then them. They sent me to the Topico to clean and dress on ulcer on one ladies leg. When I went into the room I had no clue what they wanted me to do. Just me, the assistant, and the patient, the assistant started handing me stuff and I figured out what it was that they wanted. I cleaned and dressed her leg, as well as, a little boy who had scabs all over one of his ears. So thankful that I have gloves with me!

It was a great day and I really feel as if I got to help people, despite the fact that one little old lady cussed at me in Quatuwa after I gave her an antibiotic shot, and then she thanked me a bunch before she left. Very confusing. All in all a good day!

Little old ladies are like that!
Yeah! I was glad to hear that you had an awesome weekend of llama healing, hony riding and the like! Also glad to hear of the altitude headache! Just in a jealous sort of way...not for real. Anyways...good for you! I'm so proud of how brave you are...little old ladies, scabby wounds and shots in the der-e-air! So much your arena. Thank goodness. Back in Sasebo and work has started-has it ever. John and I are thrilled to be HOME! See you when the mud sets, Gar
