Mad Cat.
Some of us do more work than others.... Well hello again,
Yes it has been a while. I have 2 excuses.
Firstly I am lacking interesting material to write about...
and secondly I have been lazy. (Tyson too)
Anyways last time I wrote was just after our trip to Brighton. Since then we have been working hard but have also had 3 more days off together.
The first one we had we decided to head into London and have another wander around. We visited the museums wandered aimlessly around for a few hours, climbed 311 stairs to the top of the monument tour, slept in Hyde Park (well Tyson did).
Ok back to the stairs. As we were wandering around aimlessly we came across the monument tower (which we had seen before from the big bus) So you can pay 2GBP to climb to the top and take in the view. 311 steps is a lot and they are very steep to. Anyways we made it to the top and rested while taking in the views. Then down again. It was worth the 2 pound especially with the certificate we both got at the end. Definitiley one to laminate and display when we get
home.
So after another rest at the bottom we headed off to the museum. A quick browse through there was quite interesting. Tyson was happy to see the Rosetta Stone which was pretty cool.
After lunch we ended up near Hyde Park and were definitely ready for a rest. We decided against hiring a deckchair for 2 pound an hour and instead lay on the grass. I had a good book with me to read but Tyson enjoyed a nap. He only woke up when someone almost hit us with a soccer ball and then claimed he wasn't alseep. "Oh really Tyson, what was that snoring noise?"
Since Tyson was obviously tired we decided to head home. (Tyson even managed to stay awake for the whole train trip)
Our second day out was a shopping expedition. We went to Croydon to have a look around and spend our tips money. We were very successful in the speding of money. Tyson was actually in the mood to go shopping. (Shock, Horror!!!) which was cool for me. So we now have way to many clothes to fit in our backpacks. Anyways it was a good day. I had
The monument
This is what we climbed up inside. It's the monument to the Great Fire of London. When laid down flat it would reach the origin of the fire, Pudding Lane. (I think that's how it goes) a delicious lunch (Tyson's steak was crap) at a Croydon pub. Unfortunately they did forget about us and we had to wait for an hour. Never mind. I was kept amused by a couple of glasses of wine. We finished the day with a movie. Ocean's 13. So that's now the third trilogy movie we have seen. It was much better than Spiderman 3. Completely different to Pirates 3. (which was excellant). Anyways the point is it was good.
Right our latest day off was this Tuesday. We went out to Reigate for a look around. Had lunch at a pub called the Blue Anchor (very very average perhaps even crap) We wandered around the Castle Grounds for a while (there was no castle - how disappointing). Anyways after a bit of a wander we caught a bus to Crawley to go and see another movie. (This time just a sequel.) We saw the Fantastic 4 number 2. It was very predicatable and corny. (the first was corny but still ok) can't say I enjoyed this one as much.
Then back to Redhill and home. We finally experience proper English rain. I have been amazed at the weather
here. England is supposed to be rainy constantly. It has rained but it's only been drizzle and you could almost stand in it for an hour before finally getting wet. Tuesday if finally rained properly. Was very nice to see (now there's something you don't see at home) Unfortunately our cab had to park further away from the pub than usual and we ended up a little damp getting back inside.
Ok so that has been our days off. Exciting stuff. Unfortunately public transport here is very expensive if you want to go any distance so that has limited us a bit. We are bery much looking forward to our tour starting. Only 9 days until we finish here.
It's now become a Sunday ritual to play cricket in the car park. So far there has been no damage done to any cars. We did come close a couple of weeks ago though. We have been playing with cheap tennis balls which break really easily. Especially with the home made bat Harry made us. Anyways we ran out of tennis balls and had stopped playing until Harry told us about a bouncy ball on the roof. So we
Only 289 to go
Almost there Tys managed to get that down and started playing with that. Meanwhile.... we were all having a couple of drinks, (the boys a couple of can's of Fosters, me a bottle of wine) Someone then suggested that they should bowl underarm to me only since I was a girl and obviously not very skilled. Unfortunately my determined/competitiveness came out and I wacked the ball as hard as I could. It went up..... cleared the pub roof..... then ther was a bang.... (in case I haven't mentioned it before..... the pub fronts onto a busy road) Just preiously to the big bang we saw a nice older style convertable drive along said road. It seems that I may of hit it. Everyone peered down the entrance then did the bolt and put away all the cricket gear.
Apparently that wasn't enough excitement so someone went and got a soccer ball. We then moved on to playing soccer. As we were playing a man then walked up and looked agryly down the driveway at us. Fortuntately he was on the other side of the road. We continued to play soccer. Was actually quite an amusing game.
Our other games since then
At the top....
We have a rest at the top of the tower and take in the view haven't quite been so eventful. A few balls go over the fence but that's about it. Last week Harry came up with the idea of putting packing tape around the balls. It makes them a bit hard but keeps them together. We are almost Pro's now. We have a real cricket bat and spinmaster balls. (it's something fun to do on a Sunday afternoon)
Anyways that's pretty much all I've got to write about. I hope you have been mildly amused. Hopefully our adventures thorugh Europe will be a little more exciting.
Well love to you all.
Bye bye now
Samantha and Tyson
