arrival in the mountains, 4400 m
when you get out of the van, it feels like when you get off a boat, you feel like the earth moves... glad to have drank some coca tea to ease the headaches Weekend adventures...
ok...we apologise to the world, we just came out of the orphenage, we are not very inspired to write much... Example of our days- Emilie played Uno all day, read "Clifford and the fire fighters", got frustrated with math (divisions are tough man!) and drew an angel. Marion made a dislexick kiddo read for an hour, rediscovered the 7 famille game and how to play marbles. their marble game is insanely hard, we re too big for this stuff!
The main reson we re exhasted is that there is a general strike all week of schools, universities, and general things like healthcare and garbage men... anyways, this means no school for our 50 kiddos. This also means, terrible hyperness and no rest for the volonteers...
It s really interesting because professors are striking in town everywhere in reaction to a drop in their salary (already very low), and it seems rather peaceful. Three years ago, the country reacted similarly and there was a LOT of repression from the governement. Well, this time it s peaceful, but you wont see one television or newspaper report that actually mentions it.... Lrena our coordinato, says that civil society

bilou, lilou et blanquette is quite united. the governement is careful, because plitics here is like a ticking timebomb. she says.
The pictures here are from last weekend. It was so great to lose ourselves in the mountains away from everything, close to tiny villages living from fishing and agriculture, wondering how they live. Our bus dropped us off at 4400 m, and we could definitly feel it. harder to breathe, climb and think. thus we went a little loca answering the calls of goats, or running away from scary bulls ... We reached a laguna that was absolutely amazing. The story is that a mermaid lives there, and no man should come there alone, or she will drag him into the depth of the water to feed the lake. We tried to sacrifice the man in our group, but sadly it didnt work!
We walked some more and went to a tiny village that fishes and sells truchas to the hungry locals and travelors passing by (truite in french, no idea in english): Was goooooorgeous. again, played with the food quite a lot. as always, we blame any devient behavior on the altitude...
The next stop was close to the niñobamba
the laguna
good energy vibes there.... we loved it. reminded em of scotland!!! volcano where there is a hot water srping. emilie went in to cure all her evils. will let you know if it works.
and since last weekend, we ve been enjoying our last week as much as we can, going in town at night to meet random locals, (got stuck in a disco yesterday trying to avoid getting draggued on the dance floor at all cost), conversation gets a bit hard with loud latino-lover music... The days are long cuz the kids are plenty, but as rewarding as always. We made scobidooos yesterday, that was awesome, they were so calm for two hours. Then, they discovered that they could also be used as whips, and things got a little out of hand. OH YEAH, emilie and I reprimended a kid, who tol us quite plainly "You and you sister, i m gonna kill you in yur sleep with a knife"!!! OK!!! ummm, you re not too sure what to answer really. we did lock the door before sleeping...
Oh, our re-named friend David is in town (see lima blog and our first day super-guides). He showed up at our casa door on sunday night out of the blue!
It s nice to walk around with a man again, makes quite a difference...
pleins de bisous, we re off to dinner
OH please think of us tomorrow we re in charge of the house. which means, cooking breakfastm lunch and dinner for 18 people, plus cleaning the entire house. AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! we hope we ll survive, and that we wont poison anybody (or just some of them)
peace, love and rock n roll
