Tyson having fun in the rocks
Hi again,

Well good news. I actually have something half interesting to write about this time. Well a few things actually so that should keep any of you who are at work bored and pretending to browse the internet for work purposes, entertained for a while.

Ok so where to start.......

Our first adventure was last Saturday night. We both had the night off and as it happened to be the week that the new Pirate movie came out we decided to go to the movies in Crawley. We had a nice dinner at TGI Friday's (mmmm Fajita's, I would also recommend a Silver Mercede's Cocktail). Ok so we knew the movie would be long but weren't expecting to get out as late as we did. The movie was meant to start at 8.40. Actually the adds started at about 8.50 then the movie at about ten past 9 and finally we were out of the movies at five to twelve. So we walked back to the train station hrough the deserted streets of Crawley, bar of course a few random drunks, making sure not to look at anyone.

Now I had looked at the train

Sammy having tonnes of funs at the beach
times but hadn't expected to be quite so late. Anyways when we finally got back to the train station we discovered that the last train back to Redhill had gone at about quarter to tweleve. (uhoh!!!!!)

So we then had 2 options. Option 1 Sleep the night and wait for the first train at 6.30. Option 2 catch a cab back to Redhill.

Not being local we weren't sure of the best cab company to call or of an actual number for one. Anyways the company we found of course happened to be a meter cab (see over here they have meter cabs which are very expensive or there are some companies which will quote a flat rate for your journey) and of course being so late the rate is time and a half. Anyways the guy at the office quoted us 30GBP to get to Redhill. A lot of money yes. A lot of Euro's that would be better spent in Europe next month. But....... We didn't really have much choice.

So we get in the cab and once again the guy tells us it's going to be expensive. We tell him we were told about
Brighton PierBrighton PierBrighton Pier

The Pier has more arcades and rides than the Boonah show
30GBP to Redhill but want to actually get to Bletchingley. Apparently he can't take us the extra 10 mintues else would cost more. Probably upwards of 40GBP. Anyways we say Redhill is fine and will get a local cheap cab from there. Anyways after hearing that we've been quoted 30GBP Mr Cab driver decides he needs to speed the whole way in order to get the correct fare.

So after quite a scary drive with me fearing for my life as we went around several roundabouts on what seemed like 2 wheels, we make it back to Redhill, thankfully alive. And the meter read....... 30.80. What a genourous guy! He only charged us 30GBP. (By the way that just over $70 Australian or just over 40 Euros - luckilly we're rich so it makes no difference )

So the next part of our now epic journey home was to catch another cab back to the pub. So another 5.50GBP and we were finally home. Anyways after all that I must say I did enjoy the movie (which is good since it ended up costing a fortune) And once again Johnny Depp was a very GOOD pirate. (sigh...)

Oh almost forgot to mention. After our very expensive night we then found out the following night that the cinema 2 towns over or 10/15mins away by cab (at normal speeds) was also showing Pirates. (Generally they only show 1 movie and it's one that is close to DVD release or a really crappy one) So we could have gone there 4 times and spent less than we did coming back from Crawley. Never mind. We will know better for next time!

So as you know there 2 out of the kitchen staff here are Indian. Now what sport to India and Australia oh and South Africa enjoy playing throughout summer etc... Hmmmmmmm That would be cricket. Anyways Kushal one day as a joke mentioned a game of cricket in the car park so in response Tyson and I bought a 3GBP kiddies plastic cricket set and some tennis balls. So last Sunday (cause there is no dinner service) the first ever Whyte Harte Cricket match was held. It had rained all day and most of us had decidied it was too wet, cold and windy to play. But Kushal remained keen and so eventually we all headed out

to play. After the first 5 minutes or so most people headed back inside to grab an extra jumper or 2 but despite the light rain and cold we had a game of car park cricket.

It seems that Kushal and Sunil were a little too serious to begin with with both almost injuring there shoulders. (perhaps it has something to do with not playing for 10 years???) Anyways our small plastic bat was deemed not good enough, so the boys went in search of something better. Kushal came back with a small lump of wood which was even more usless. Success, when Sunil eventually came up with a tennis racquet. Combined with our crappy tennis balls that didn't actually bounce it worked quite well.

So there were a couple of cars in the carpark and obviously if you hit the car you're out and if you damage it you had to apologise to the hotel guest and ask about their insurance. Anyways no damage was done and after a couple of hours playing, at about 9pm play was stopped due to bad light. A return match has now been proposed for this Sunday.

It's now getting

The buckets and spades for the beach...
a little more serious with Harry making us a cricket bat. (it's quite good really) Should be good fun. Apparently last weekend we started a bit of talk. There was an older guy watching who was apparently a high up cricket umpire. He was amused/shocked/I think a little disgusted at us playing cricket with a tennis racquet. I was also bowling overarm which just isn't cricket. Anyways was good fun!

Wow...... Bored yet???

Tuesday we finally managed to get a day off together. So we decided to head off to Brighton and check out the English seaside. After 3 days in a row of really bad weather. (rain wind and cold) we managed to score a pretty good day weatherwise. (sunny, windy and still cold). So we jumped on the train again and off to the beach.

Ok so the first thing to see get into Brighton from the train station are the Lanes. Basically they are a whole heap of small interconecting laneways that have been turned into shops. There are clothes, jewlery, shoes, furniture, crafts etc... etc... Tyson thought they were fantasitc and was happy wandering in and out of the clothes stors looking

at dresses that were way too expensive.

Ok so he was completely over it after 2 shops and was only happy walking around after we found a yummy cookie shop. Once the cookie was gone he was again unhappy shopping.

After a quick look through the museum and art gallery we eventually we made our way down to the seaside and the Brighton Pier. So we scrounched out on the rocks to the beach. Yes a beach with rocks a kind of strange picture for an Australian. “Uhoh there's rocks in my shoes” So I attempted to have a lay down and sunbathe in the sun. Of course wearing my 2 jumpers and jeans buy soon discovered that the rocks weren't too comfortable. We could have hired a deckchair for 1GBP per hour but decided that we'd spent enough time on the rocks and would go and explore the pier.

I did try to build a rock castle but was unsuccessful. I did however find it quite amusing when I saw buckets and spades for sale. (why??? there's no sand)

Anyways we went up to the pier to have a look around. It's like a mini

version of the Boonah show without the tractors and cows. As you walk onto the pier there are food stalls. Then there's a big building in the middle of the pier that is filled with amusement games. There were anout 60 claw games where you try to pick up the stuffed animal. Coin games, fruit machines (poker machines) dancing games, shooting games a great way to spend a lot of money. Tyson was intent on winning a crazy frog toy. But after a dozen attempts still didn't have one and he had run out of change.

So we finally got out of that building and headed towards the end of the pier. Next is the rides. There were dodgem cars, a merry go round, a rollar coaster, some sort of gee wizz like ride and even a racing dolphin game. Ok so on the way back down the pier we decided to go round the big amusement building so as not to waste anymore money on the games.

We had been told that it was a must to have fish and chips for lunch so we went back to the beach and had it by the rocks. There

Tyson after getting his 2nd Hole in One!!!
also happened to be a crazy golf course right next to us so we took in a few holes of that before going for another wander. Eventually we found some more shops (much to Tyson's delight) So we browsed them all (of course) and again they were so expensive.

So by the afternoon we were completely exhausted. We finished shopping and found some dinner. (mmm very average pub food) Then the long train journey home. Was actually quite a good day.

So the rest of the week has been work as usual. And no douby will be until Sunday when the cricket match is planned.

Anyways hope you all enjoyed this mini novel that I have managed to write.

Will talk to you soon. Congrats to the few of you who have finished uni. I think it's mainly the nurses.

Ok have fun. Love to you all.

Bye bye now.

Samantha and Tyson
