This morning we ate breakfast at the hotel. It was pretty good, although definitely overpriced. Then we headed out on foot to the Sagrada Familia. It is a big fancy church designed by Gaudi. Everyone told us it was a can't miss in Barcelona. I am not so sure we agreed. It cost 8 Euros to get in, which I thought was a bit pricey. Then almost the entire church was under restoration, so we couldn't really see much anyways. I was definitely disappointed. The outside was beautiful, but the inside was so full of scaffolding that it was hard to see what it actually looked like. After that we kind of split up. Mom, Catherine and I went on a bus tour of the western part of the city. We didn't get off anywhere, although I kind of wanted to. Dad and Matt headed off in separate directions to do some more exploring on foot. We got to see a lot more of Barcelona and the lovely architecture. We stopped in a few shops around our hotel after that.

We all met back at the hotel around 2 pm for lunch. Dad seems to think we need to

fit into the Spanish lifestyle and eat our main meal between 2-4 pm. It sounds fine, except we ate breakfast at 8:30 am, and then by the time we decided on a place to eat it was about 3 pm, so kind of a long time without food. Plus everywhere is quite crowded around that time. We had tapas again. We also had some cute little sandwiches.

After lunch we all went our own ways again. This time Matt and I boarded the bus and toured the southern part of the city. There were some beautiful places, but the tour was a bit long for us, about 2.5 hours. Mom and Catherine did some shopping and Dad took a siesta and explored. We met back at the hotel around 6 pm. Caroline arrived by cab at the hotel around 6:30 pm. We all rested up for a little bit and hit the town around 7 or so. We of course had some trouble deciding what to do, so we split up again. This time Catherine and Mom went to get some gelato, Dad wondered off somewhere (ended up buying some shoes) and Caroline, Matt and I went to get

some supper. We had some tapas again. I got some gelato afterwards and now at 9:40 pm we are all back in our rooms. Caroline seemed like she wanted to go out and do something, but I don't think anyone else does, so who knows if anyone will be joining her.

The architecture in this city continues to impress us. All of the buildings are just so beautiful. There are tons of scooters and a few bicycles. So far between us we have seen three accidents, one in which the girl most likely died. All of these were with either bicycles or scooter/motorcycles. The city is extremely pedestrian friendly and everyone stops for us. There are tons of trees (at least for a big city) and there doesn't seem to be much smog. Although all of our eyes and noses have been irritated by something while we have been here. Tomorrow we board the boat.
