In front of the Vienna Opera House.
This post is actually to cover the madness that was my time in Vienna, however thought I'd advertise to see if any random people, or friends of friends might be in Rome when I'm back there on Friday 18th-19th May (ugly people need not apply . . . and yes I know, everyone's beautiful on the inside).

Anyways, back to business, apologies for the poor quality of the last post, will try to liven things up a bit and will avoid referring to Paul in the 3rd person, that was just stupid.

Vienna Sightseeing

Being a tourist I would be remiss to not to the touristy sight-seeing, so that's what I did in Vienna. Went to the Art Museum, went to the natural history museum, did the bus tour around the city and went to the palace (can't remember the name, its something Austrian sounding). Alright, nuff said on the subject, onto the partying.

Vienna Partying and Eating

I had a great time in Vienna. Why most of that great time was spent in an Australian pub called Cross Fields, I'm still not entirely sure (and I'll confess, I did drink Fosters . . .
Mmmmm . . . WMmmmm . . . WMmmmm . . . W

I don't know what W is . . . but it looks saucy.
BUT, only because I was advised it tastes better overseas than it does in Australia. Please be aware, this is not the case . . . DO NOT DRINK FOSTERS).

Went to a great Greek restaurant as well called Giechiechez (ok, that's not right, but I don't know how to type those funny greek letters) Restaurant Marathon, found in Langegasse 25 1080 Wien. I tasted without a doubt the best calamari in that restaurant . . . it was 100 times better then that which I tried at the Caxton Street Seafood Festival in Brisbane before I left.

Am staying with my cousin Emil and his wife Christine who have been the best hosts one could hope for. Two nights in a row in Vienna they took me to their local, a Hoeger (one of those letters has a funny symbol above it) . . . which I believe refers to someone (or somewhere) that makes/sells wine at the start of the season. Anyways, had a fantastic wine tasting (white wine, which is the speciality of this Hoeger's vinyard I think) and some great food, including white asparagus which is only in season this time of the year.

With the charming Moldovian Princess Felicia. Despite her advice . . . DO NOT DRINK FOSTERS . . . its UnAustralian.

Weird but true, two (or it could have been three I think?) completely random people asked me if I'd seen the movie True Romance in the one night. The answer is yes, but its been awhile, however I do recall that it had Tony Soprano in one scene.

Other randomness . . . I ended up in some kind of American 50s type bar which could well have had every spirit on the face of the planet (the menu was like 50 pages long). I ordered a JD 12 year and they were out of stock. Continued randomness . . . I met a lovely Austrian girl called Eva and an American (or Canadian?) guy named Randy, and we went to a karaoke bar. Randy and I sang (well he did, I was pretty terrible) Blaze of Glory with some mighty impressive actions. Evan killed Elton John's Yellow Brick Road before we left.

That's pretty much Vienna from, next entry see me in the Austrian town of Krumau for a bit of D-TOX for a couple days, then I'll be heading back to Rome.

Thanks to all the great people I met in Vienna, had a

Man your posts are so full of win. I will be sure to NOT DRINK FOSTERS and agree thoroughly that turtles are cool. Sorry but I won't be able to meet up with you on the 18th-19th of May due to being several thousand kms away. I have only one request, and that is you never EVER finish an update with "peace out y'all". Defenitely raised the standard, and I look farward to seeing how Matty combats your insurgence. Peace out P'aul!
