So since last time we have managed to find a place to live. It is a one bedroom apartment right in the heart of downtown so walking distance to pretty much everything. It is for sale so we managed to get it at a discounted rate of rent (they do all rent privately here not through real estate agents which is a bit weird) and on a month-to-month basis which works out well for us. We are too lazy to take our own photos so we left that to the pros. If you follow this link and then look at additional photos you should get an idea.

Karl has been working for a residential concrete company based out of Vancouver. He had the longest concrete day in history last week it started at 6am and finished at 10pm at night and to top it off it was a FRIDAY NIGHT!!! (deep breaths, deep breaths... just think of the money) It is also a little different to what he is used to as they use timber screeds and a lot of handwork, the old Italian and Portuguese style- yah!?

Emma has been doing some temp work as an

The Bridge actually moves more than you would think, quite funny seeing those that were scared!
Executive Assistant. She lined up a couple of days working for a President and CEO. She wasn't sure what to expect as she had been warned about his potential temper but she managed to stay out of trouble (and did pretty much nothing not sure why I was needed) and much to everyone's surprise got invited back for another week. Haven't heard of it continuing so I guess I am on my way! There should be another temp position coming up which would be better $$$, $20 an hour (hmmm... $$$!!) and hopefully they will have things for her to do!

So the last week or so it has been more work and not a lot of traveling. But we have managed to do a touristy activity and go to the Capilano Suspension Bridge. It is Vancouver's oldest tourist attraction, originally built in 1889, stretches 450 feet (137m) across and 230 feet (70m) above Capilano River. It has also got lots of smaller canopy suspension bridges, which allow you to be amongst the Fir trees which can be up to 1500 years old! The photos will tell more.

Other than that not much to report. It has been lovely sunny weather (which you at home may take for granted but over here it is a bit of a novelty so everyone gathers at the parks and all the bikes and rollerbladers come out to play) so our Aussie friend over here has been inspired and organised a BBQ for this afternoon in true Aussie style. So looking forward to that but sadly the weather isn't great.

Hope all the mums had a good mothers day. We will update you with more in the coming weeks.

Take it easy,
Karl and Emma.
