After a three hour boat journey we arrived on the island of Labuan 8km from the coast of Borneo.
The island is completely tax free!
The first night we stayed in a really large apartment on the 16th floor, it even had a kitchen! I was dying to cook mashed potatoes with gravy and vegetables. When we got down to the supermarket we figured it would be a lot cheaper just to buy a takeaway pizza. So i had to make do with more unhealthy crap food. (I am craving fresh fruit and vegetables.)
There wasn't a lot to do in Labuan so I browsed around the shops as usual.
The next night we must have found the worst place on the island to stay, it was really grotty and i swear things were biting at my legs whilst in bed! We complained but unfortunately didn't get any money back.
The next day we caught a taxi to see James best friends family. They live in a beautiful big house on the beach have a swimming pool and two maids! Mrs. Medlicot (the lady of the house) invited us to stay over for a few days. James found it hard to refuse such an offer so we stopped the night, it was living in luxury, the maids cooked lunch and set out a buffet breakfast for us in the morning. We had a nice swim and walked on the beach at sunset.
We had to leave to meet James friend John in Brunei, but Mrs Medlicot invited us to come back for a dinner party she was holding that weekend.
We caught a boat across to James home land Brunei................
