Very comforting trying to chill on the beach with this sign, but they are everywhere
Well I spent all day yesterday “buzzing” about on my moped. Have to admit was a little shaky at first, but once I got going it was great fun, and there are more mopeds on the roads then cars, so they kind of rule the roads. A couple of Italian guys stopping at my bungalows guided me to a fabulous beach, which I would never have found. They then set off to discover a waterfall, so have to admit was a little worried about finding my way back, but hey here I am. Anyway Mum you’ll be pleased to know that 24 hours was enough for my moped, as I needed to hit the town last night to watch the footie. Beer and moped not a good combo and I had a trip planned today, so one day was just enough!

Today was elephant trekking and canoeing. So we were given our canoe and a life jacket and off we went. I was paired up with an Aussie girl, who was nice enough, but a bit pathetic, she moaned all the way through that her arms hurt and that there where bugs and mosquitoes, I mean come on isn’t Australia not the land of creepy crawlies. Then she kept stopping all the time, and couldn’t figure out a) how to row and b) how to steer. So needless to say I did all the work, my arms and shoulders will be killing tomorrow, but it was definitely worth it. We canoed through, limestone cliffs, canyons and mangrove forests and had one or two visitors of the primate variety, as you can see from the pictures. Although every time one landed on our boat the Aussie girl screamed! Which just encouraged the guides to throw more pineapple on our boat, which attracted more monkeys…..very funny!

Then we stopped for a bit of lunch and then off to the elephants………what an amazing experience. I have to say when they first appeared, it was a little daunting, they were huge, but once I was up there and got over the sea sickness feeling as they moved, it was awesome. The guys that guide the elephants just sit on the front, whereas we sit on seats behind, but oh no, our guide decided it would be much more fun for me to sit at the front basically on the elephants head and he

Ok i look a little sweaty and weather beaten, but look, the monkey liked me!!
would sit in my seat, so there I am Sunday afternoon, like it’s the most normal thing in the world guiding my elephant through the trail!! Bit wobbly at first till I got my balance (all that gymnastics at school, mum, obviously had its benefits), then that was it I was off. Half way round the trail the heavens opened, so me and my elephant got very wet, but we didn’t mind. I think I might stay in Thailand forever and ride elephants…..I mean how can you compare that to sitting in an office all day? So what I way to finish my time in Thailand! An experience I will never forget!

I leave here tomorrow for Kuala Lumpar. Yes you’ve guessed it another one of those bus journeys, but hey after today I’m on top of the world so I don’t care that I have to face a 15 hour badly air conditioned bus tomorrow!!!

Ciao now now.x
