BeckyBeckyBecky

in a garden in Pompei
Hello from Florence! i think i have decided this is my favorite stop thus far.
We arrived here 2 nights ago, before that we took a train through Naples to get to Pompei, where we enjoyed the ruins for about 45 minutes until we arrived here...that night Becky realized she lost her passport at the trainstation or somewhere between there and our hostel. I rode with her in a taxi back to the train station to retrace our steps. can i just say, i have rode with some crazy drivers before (ahem, Annie/Kristi 😊 heh heh) but this was a whole new experience! my palms were sweating the whole 5 minutes we were in the cab... i feared for several pedestrians lives we were inches from hitting... anyways, it was not anywhere to be found. So the next day Becky ventured to the police station and the US embassay to get a new one. meanwhile the rest of us did some much needed laundry, (convo on the train... 'sniff sniff, sick whats that smell?' looking around 'oh, thats us' shrug) then we went to the museum that houses michael angelos David statue... so amazing in person! after that we went inside the Duomo, very exquisite... we met up with becky after that and went in search for a grocery store. We were unsuccesful in our attemps however, courtney did happen to see a sign for happy hour at a resturaunt that said 3 euro for wine or beer and free buffet included. too good to be true? nope! im thinking it wasnt meant to be a full on meal, by the glances we recieved from a couple patrons, but we took full adnvantage of the 'free'. After that we walked to the river and sat on one of the bridges and watched the sun go down, it was a brilliant red, gorgeous! then we stopped for the 3rd time to get gelato and we took a hike up a little hill to get a panaramic view of the city at night.
right now we are getting ready to book our hostels in cinque terra and venice. once we leave this cafe we are taking abus out to tuscany and then on to the duomo for saturday mass.
im going to try to load some pictures becky has taken thus far. check those soon.
ciao!

Sounds great !
It's nice to read about your recent adventures, and to imagine the places you describe. Great deal.....that free buffet !! That kind of makes up for the restaurant rip-off in Interlaken, hm? At least, I think it was Interlaken. Love to all. Ciao ! Courtney's grandmother, Elaine
