Hellloooo from Nice, France!

So Jenn and I had some difficulties getting here, apparently Nice is popular and all of the trains were full! So we dipped into our emergency funds and payed a little extra for an upgrade to 1st class. I must admit after riding in first class I don't think either one of us are looking forward to returning to 2nd class....where we ultimately belong. In first class nobody talks!! We were whispering the entire time as to not disturb the peace. Anyway we made it and even though Patrick the owner of Hostel Chez Patrick is a little strange the place is very clean and everything worked out well in the end.

We both are going to really miss Paris. Our roommates were hilarious (they wrote 4 pages of info for us on where to go in Florence, where they just finished studying abroad) and we had a great time all three days. We went out to the Latin Quarter one night and I found a bar that made snakebites!! Not the American kind, but the kind with black currant, I felt like I was back in England again. Anyway we made lots of friends,

one of which was our taxi driver who LOVED Bush..... I don't really remember why but we got a discounted fare b/c of it.

I dunno about Jenn but I loved Notre Dame. It was my favorite place in Paris that we visted. I found a seat and just took everything in. We also went to the Eiffel Tower and the weather was perfect so we got some great pictures. We are gonna wait until we go back to Paris to go up it.

Right now we are about to go explore Vieux Nice. We went to the huge street market today and grabbed some breakfast and enjoyed it on a bench overlooking the beach. We then enjoyed the beach, which btw is covered in stones, not sand. I did burn a bit but a little pain is worth it!

Thanks everyone for the nice notes you sent us! I'm glad to hear everyone is doing well. Katie, I'm glad to hear your roommate situation worked out, and my Russian I can't believe I'm so close to you! I'm still trying to figure out if there is a way to visit you. Mom our flight situation worked

out well we didn't have any problems connecting flights and Dad my Paris roommate's father works for the National Park Service. He has come to many meetings at the office in D.C. and has worked at parks all over the country. I forgot what he does, something about being in charge of the park authority at each park?

Anyway I'm gonna attempt to post some pictures. I hope it works.
We miss everyone!

Great Photos!
Hi! i sent a message to you, but i don't think it went through! We loved the photos and all the news. You are doing a great job with the journals Emily...can't wait to read the next note! Jen...Anita said she forgot to tell you about Murano, a famous glass making city outside of Venice. She wanted me to tell you it was worth a trip out there if it worked with your plans. She said Venice was one of her favorite places and not to miss the gondola ride!!! That is one place I would love to see. Get lots of pictures for me! Take good care!!!
