Chiang Mai - Day 3

It is only day 3. That seems absolutely amazing as we seem to have done so much since arriving in Thailand, and everything is starting to seem really normal. On our second day in Bangkok we visited the grand palace and the emerald budda - We have some beautiful photos, which are probably exactly the same as those of every visitor to Bangkok, however i will endevour to get my camera down to an internet cafe and upload them. After a bit of shopping with the street hawkers who hover around outside the grand palace we jumped on a ferry up the river to the nearest stop to the train station. The river was pretty awesome to see, as we hadn't at that stage seen all the little shanty houses (for lack of a better name), this was soon to change after we jumped on the train. After a late lunch/early dinner at some swanky riverside joint we cruised back to the train station and caught the overnighter up to Chiang Mai. Lou and I left Fiona in our breakfast cafe, and missioned around the old town trying to find a suitable guest house. This caused numerous laughs as we found ourselves lost, had every tuk tuk/taxi driver we passed ask us if we wanted to visit "the factory" etc. etc. After about 2 hours we found a place which actually had 3 beds in one room, and managed to find our way back to Fiona. We are soon off to a cultural night (I guess a bit like the old Rotorua Concert and a Hangi), and have booked in for cooking school on Monday - future dinner party guests watch out!

Gotta love being the white guy
It is the same in Europe with people wanting trade but probably no where near as bad. Even in Hong Kong it is all "you wanna buy". Learn to ignore it pretty quick along with the beggars. Sad, I used to be such a bleeding heart.
