Touristas
Us at the Sydney Opera House Farewell Red Racer. The station wagon got us all the way from Sydney to Melbourne and way up to Cairns. That's alot of km's and no car trouble. And the best we could do to show the car we love it was to sell it for $200 to a used car place. I already miss the ol' beast and wish I was sleeping in the back for free.
Now Sofia and I are along the gold Coast at Surfer's Paradise and it's been nothing but R&R and sunshine. It turns out we don't get along as a couple so that's why we got rid of the car and we're going our separate ways on Friday.
But alas, what have we been up to? Alot of driving. And spending money on tours and stuff, but I would regret not seeing some of the ultra-touristic stuff. For instance we did a Fraser island tour for 2 days/1 nights and it was a bit of a letdown for the price but still really cool to see. Fraser is an island made entirely of sand (the largest sand island in the world) which gives it some cool unique qualities. The water is so pure
Random Beach stop
The nice part of having the car was seeing amazing little beaches like this one here called_________. Ok I should have kept a journal because I don't remember shit. there you can drink it right out of the streams because it has its own renewable water supply. And you wouldn't believe the rainforest that can grow in pure sand. Wow such an amazing place.
Also more recently we did a snorkel tour on the great barrier reef up by Cairns. Now this was anything but a letdown. First of all, the company we booked with had two different tours. Of course we chose the cheaper one for about $100 but it was fully booked. They upgraded us to the rich-ass boat ($189) and it included a free introductory SCUBA dive! That kind of thing never, NEVER, happens to me so I was hooting for joy. Sofia never dived before so I told her she definately had to try it. Now, if you recall I'm a certified advanced diver so I had a feeling this wouldn't be the thing for me, but it was free so pretended I never dived before and I went for it.
It was pretty lame but at the same time nice to get back underwater for half an hour. No sharks. Not too much of anything to see, and we had to interlock arms in
Croc watch
Keeping an eye out for those reptillian bastards, even though this was Fraser Island and they don't have crocodiles. a group so I felt like a kindergarten kid crossing the street with a crossing guard. The snorkeling was pretty cool though but my camera wasn't working right that day so you won't get to see the amazing island we went to for that.
Next plan: going to stay with a bunch of hippies in Byron Bay for a couple weeks or so in a tent community at the good ol' Arts Factory backpackers hostel. Only $14 a night so I'll be able to treat myself to the odd $10 cask of wine. This stuff is hilarious. A 4 Liter box of wine with the warning "May contain fish, milk, or nut products".
Warning : The next blog may contain hippie, bohemian, or lazy photos.
