Edingurgh Castle
Edinburgh Castle looms over Edinburgh - why they built a castle in the middle of a city we will never know..... haha We have just returned from a whirlwind tour of the Isle of Skye and the Highlands of Scotland - lots of Braveheart scenery. We had a very talkative bus driver/guide for our tour, who had an unlimited number of stories about clan feuds, faeries and legends, not to mention Scottish history. He also told us a few porkies, which we weren't aware of until he informed us. We attempted a tour record of 12 people in a phone box on Skye, but I think he just did that for a laugh. He also took us on a 'wee walk' up a mountain, all for a spectacular panoramic view - Teresa and I only made it half-way, unfit things we are, but still got some fantastic photos. We went to Faerie pools, where we splashed wate on our faces for eternal youth - seems to have worked!
We have had fantastic weather, until we returned to Edinburgh, where we were fogged in. We walked through Eilann Donan Castle, and Chester took some great photos as you will see. Teresa also tried to fire Chester out of a cannon, but forgot the gunpowder, so it was abit of a fizzer. Some silly
Canadian went for a dip in Loch Ness, something we all envied her for (NOT!) so we duly nicknamed her 'Nessie'. We met some great people on the tour from all over the place, and are looking forward to our tour of Ireland which is coming up next.
We are off to Glasgow today for an overnight stay before heading to Dublin to begin our 6-day tour. Thanks heaps to Velinda and Wil for their great hospitality and we hope we were good house-guests. Was great to catch up. Til next time we rock up on your doorstep, or you on ours 😊
