We knew that the room was going to be nice after seeing this!!!
The excitement had finally hit me on our leaving day, I ws bouncing off the ceiling, and couldnt wait to get to bangkok and start our adventure.

The flight was hassle free, unlike our exit out of the new bangkok airport. (Suvarnabhumi). As soon as you walk out of the exit you are bombarded with Taxi! Taxi!, I give you good price. You say no and they still insist, we even had a driver try to run across the road risking life and limb to get to us. I suppose we do stand out a little as westerners or Farangs! as they lick to call us.
We managed to get a public taxi for 400baht, just over 6 pounds for a taxi of 20 mins, better than the 1000 baht or 16 pound taxi we were offered. 3 amigos 1 con artists 0.

On arrival to our hotel we got an upgrade, and find our selves on the deluxe floor, in a huge airconditioned room with sat tv and nice bathroom. Not really a backpackers place, but for the first few days we will live like kings.

Our first night we had a thai meal on the top floor of the hotel, where we could see the whole of Bangkok lit up at night. We retired to the bar on this floor and enjoyed the view with a singha beer and live blues and jazz band. They even played a song that I remember my nan played on her organ. Speaking of which thanks Nan, the hotel was on you.x
