Glue sniffing

Well, things are looking a little bleak at 3:00am on Good Friday morning.

The international China adoption community was hoping that allocations would be received by agencies last Monday, an expectation which seemed reasonable, as last month's allocation occurred at the beginning of March. However, it was not to be. Although the rumour mill has been churning frantically, no allocations were received by any agency.

Worse still, the few unverified rumours posted on our usually reliable adoption rumour website indicate that the "best case scenario" at this stage is an allocation cut-off LID* date of 30 October 2005. The March allocation included 24 October 2005 LIDs, so if this is true, it means that allocations will have slowed down to six LID days every month. My batch (with an LID of 8 November 2005) is unlikely to be allocated until June (to travel in August). This is too depressing, given that our original allocation date was May 2006, so I'm choosing to believe that the rumours are false, wallow in denial over Easter, stuff my face without giving a thought to my thighs, and see what pops up next Tuesday.

It was the wrong week to give up glue sniffing!

* LID = Date an adoption file is received in China for processing. It used to take 6 months from receipt of the file to allocation, but this has now blown out to more than 18 months and counting.

I don't know what to say - this just sucks! While we are on this journey with you and feel some frustration I cannot imagine what a blow this sort of rumour/news is to you. Sending big hugs from all in Tassie.
