Early Morning
An early picture of us heading to our boat We awoke this morning with torrential rain, so much so we didn't think our Deep Sea Fishing Trip would go ahead.Jacko and Babes went on their usual early morning run.We all met up at reception at 7.15 am. The taxi driver picked us up and we were waved off by Babes who didn't want to go ( see below ) Fortunately the deluge of earlier had subsided and it was starting to dry up as we headed on our 20 minute journey to Turtle Bay. On our way we had to dodge rocks and boulders that had come off the hillside due to the rain and we also viewed Goats,Monkeys and a Mongoose.
As we entered Turtle Bay our Boat The Sea Brat and her two man crew were waiting for us.We jumped on board and after a brief safety demo we headed out to sea. After around 30 minutes we started to cast off with the massive reels. It was close to one hour after the first lot of lines were cast off before we got a bite.Woodsie jumped into the "Chair" and he started to reel in.....See pictures below as how we went on.
Pels started to feel unwell
7 Fishermen
7 of us on our way to sea and successfully managed not to be sick overboard but that was more willpower than anything else as he could not face being sick in front of all the guys!! The slagging would have lasted all week! As it transpired Ravi admitted when we got back on dry land that he felt just as bad as Pels but he didn't have bottle to let on to the rest of the guys!!
We caught one Mahe Mahe which weighed in at 10 pounds, two Baracuda and they were around 4 pounds each and two enormous Wahoos who were a healthy 20 pounds each.
After four hours we were back on dry land and the concensus from everyone was that it was a brilliant morning out on the High seas.
Once the guys got back Mike,Adam amd GP headed off to find a bar to watch the England Cricket match and have some lunch.Jacko headed to The Marriot with Ravi as his little helper to take pictures of the SWAGS for the scottish tabloids over the next few days.Pels and Drylie headed to the Pool.
Babes had decided from the off not to go deep sea fishing as
he always feels unwell on boats! In fact even when Babes has a bath he doesn't feel well for days after it.........however,as many of the press and TV are staying at our hotel he managed to blag a free $50 ticket for South Africa v Holland match at Warner Park.
For those who don't know, this match has gone down in one day cricketing history as Babes proudly came back and told us that Herschelle Gibbs the South African batsman had hit six sixes in the one over,The only people who have ever done it in first-class cricket are Gary Sobers and India's Ravi Shastri.Later that same night we met the very humble Mr Gibbs while we were out and some of the lads got a picture with him!
As the boys reconvened around the pool Woodsie and Pels went for their daily wave crashing on the beach while the others relaxed in the baking hot sunshine around the pool area with a few cocktails thrown in too! It would be rude not as after all we are all inclusive.
We met up at 7.30pm at a different restaurant as our usual one had a private function. The food
Dryle
Davie D in the big chair as ever was brilliant with another great selection put on by the chef.
After dinner we headed down the strip a short walk away form our hotel. We ended up in the only busy bar on the beach called Ziggy's.As it was Friday night it seemed busier than normal with real Friday feeling atmosphere. As we were standing near the bar Herschelle Gibbs the South African batsman stood beside us. Some of the boys wasted no time in getting a photo with him!!
As the night wore on the boys started to drift off to their beds after another excellent day.
To be continued.......
