Telluride 1
View from the Peaks ...weeeelllll....not EXACTLY - it was more of a "went to Heaven, skied like Hell" (sorry, Nat!)!!!....
To put a label on the first stop of my adventure - I'd describe it as an overall magical experience! Yes - I know - that's a pretty lofty title for ANY experience, but hopefully I'll be able to convey - even a little bit - of just how great the trip was...
...for those who don't know anything about Telluride - it's a small, former mining / prostitution station (so I'm told) with a population of about 4000 in 1900 and 2200 in 2007. And no - that's NOT a typo!!! It's located up in the Colorado Rockies - COMPLETELY isolated from the rest of the major Colorado resort towns - with a BASE altitude of about 9400 feet!!! Yeah - NOT for the faint of heart (no pun intended - NO, really!!!)....;~)P
So yeah - we, the Telluride Crew (consisting of Moondoggle, Malinka, Lolita, Celeste and me - The Chef) got into Telluride on the 25th of February and checked into a FANTABULOUS 3-bedroom condo at "The Peaks" in Mountain Village, where we set up shop and strategized on the
Telluride 2
View from the Peaks goings-on to come over the course of the ensuing week...
...that stratemagizing included setting out (1) what kind of hair styles we were going to put into place at the fashion show (more to come on that in a bit...), (2) when and where we were gonna ski, (3) how we were going to live up to our hopes and dreams of sexual prowess (or promiscuity, for some!...;~)P), and OF COURSE (4) how I was going to keep everyone well fed and liquored-up!!!...
...and so it began!!! Within a coupla hours, Malin was doing hair-research ((slash) commenting on all of the womens' outfits and hair at the Oscars), Moon was checking out "do's" from the 20's, 30's and 40's, and I'd put together my famous Linguine (or Zucchini for those with lo-carb preferences) Bolognese, complete with a 'lil Mascarpone for shits and giggles (courtesy of my girl, Kunoichi-Mo)...
...we watched the Oscars, did some more strategizing, and went to bed...
...Monday morning we were up and riding the slopes. Jorn and Sam - our (or at least my) new friends - took us around and showed us the ropes on what proved to be one of
my FAVORITEST mountains that I've ever skied - which says a WHOLE lot!!! The tree-skiing was pretty much unparalleled, the moguls were challenging but fun, and the powder was DELICIOUS!!!
