warm and lazy weekends

the past week went by quickly, my greatest concern was trying to hide my awkward sunburn on my forehead. my roommate left on saturday to spend this coming week with her family, who has arrived to visit. she is staying with them at their hotel downtown, so i have a solitary week to look forward to. on saturday i took some pictures around town in the hopes of getting them developed, but my hopes are likely to be dashed because after lugging my camera and film through multiple airport scanners i don't expect them to turn out. i will find out on thursday, so i'll wait in suspense until then. i visited my friend andrea in castelnau-le-lez again on saturday evening, and i took some nice pictures of the pretty cat that lives outdoors there. its appetite nearly matched mine, but it was hard and foolish not to take advantage of all the delicious foodstuffs andrea's host family buys for her. saturday evening i saw the american version of the count of monte cristo, which was pertinent as her host family was staying in marseilles for the weekend. on sunday we had been planning to walk around her neighborhood and take pictures, but since she had a headache, i walked around a bit by myself and headed in the direction of a cemetery. it wasn't what i had expected though because it was relatively recent, so it wasn't very aesthetically pleasing. it was also odd because the whole cemetery was on raised terrain with shrubs around the edge so that outside of the cemetery grounds it was easy to picture all of the bodies hanging around at my level. when i returned to my apartment on sunday the landlady's grandsons made it their personal agenda to intrude, run water, turn the tv on, and play computer games on my laptop. i didn't mind terribly, i took a few pictures of them, and then locked the door and didn't answer later in the day when i wanted to rest. other than that, it was a slow weekend... laundry in my sink, homework, cleaning, etc.

nice bunch of photos--too bad that you lost your trees! I don't know if my favorite is the one with the strange sculpture, or the Alice/Wonderland vista!
