Friday was a lovely sunny day. I took it upon myself to embark in a walk- I had a whole day to spare and what better way to explore the city?
So I walked along the Brisbane river, a glorious walk indeed! The sun was shining, there were lizards popping out in the path infront of me and I could see the bridges and cityscape around me! Gorgeous! Just as I was contemplating how wonderful life and nature are, in my euphoric state, i stumbled across a group of children from a special school! I felt like i belonged in Brisbane for that special moment! Of course...being australian, i had about a half hour chat with the teachers! How delightful!

Then i walked a bit too far...i had been walking for about 2.5 hours at this point so was getting a little tired and almost forgot that i had to walk all the way back! Anyway, after my small moment of lost panic (the one i get almost daily in bristol) i was back walking to where i wanted to get too...south bank.

South Bank is where there are lots of posh cafe's, work people doing lunch and the odd student. Oh and the only beach in brisbane. its a fake beach, its not as good as cairns' fake beach but it does have sand!

Feeling pretty content, I decided to walk back to my hostel- it was about 4pm! A whole day walking...wow...tiring stuff!

I met an COOL American guy in the kitchen at the hostel. He hates Americans too! Wow!
So we were exchanging small talk over our nutritious pizzas and another chap joins us...the usual questions happen "where r u from etc"
"iraq" says he. "and u?"
"the states" (the american guy says)
Hmm.
"WOW...REALLY? YOU ARE AMERICAN...LET ME SHAKE YOUR HAND! I LOVE GEORGE BUSH! SADAM KILLED TWO OF MY BROTHERS SO I LOVE BUSH!"
Hmm.
Suddenly, the pizza became very interesting to stare at!
Later I realised the american guy had a water bottle infront of him with a HUGE "SABOTAGE BUSH" sticker on it! Hmm!
Topical!

There were some irish girls in my room...they left. During my walk, one of the empty beds was filled. A mystery man I thought.
Turns out...it was mr iraq.
HMMMMMM!

uhhh...
Travelling is no time to have political discussions, all you will learn is that most people are wrong about most things most of the time. Anyway, keep it up... or something!
