Hi All

We make our way by bus into Croatia from Slovinia to a city on the coast called Pula, the main highlight was a visit to the Roman amphitheater but our hostel was way out of the way and was fairly dodgy with a “Free breakfast” which was a bit of bread and jam with a bucket of tea. More school camp reminders.

We only spent one night in Pula, we then bused it to Rijeka (bout 2.5 hours) and then jumped on an all night train to Split. (We were very lucky with the train as we had a whole cabin to ourselves and the seats pulled out to be beds)

We had a nice relaxing stay in Split, wandering the old Roman streets and sipping coffee at many a café around the place.

Never have I seen such an area that is so Seasonal, everywhere we go is so quiet, but u can tell that that it’s set up for the tourists as there are 100’s of bars, restaurants and hotels that are closed during the winter.

The majority of accommodation we have had through Croatia has been home stays, little old ladies meet us at the Train station, Ferry or Bus terminal and offer us a room in their house for about 10 bucks each. It’s a fantastic way to tour this region (and cheap too)

In Split, I had to wash but it was Sunday and the Launderette was closed, the lady did my washing overnight and had it all folded ready for me the next day. (it cost less than it would have to do it myself at the launderette).

3 days later we arrive by ferry on an Island called Hvar in a town with the same name, Wandering up to the castle for some amazing views we find it locked. So Cam and I try to scale the castle walls, I made it up but Cambo couldn’t quite reach the next level (See pic), so we gave up. Bloody Aussie tourists

Another ferry ride to an island called Korcula, we found a great apartment for 15 bucks a night each. Sat TV, Modern Bathroom. Everything like a hotel room in the middle of the Old town. Korcula was much like the other old towns we have visited, more little streets and alleyways. But it didn’t seem to have as much Roman influence as Paula, Split or Hvar.

Dubrovnik has been the highlight of the trip so far. Another old walled city on the coast of the Adriatic, but it’s bloody massive. Cameron and I took nearly 3 hours to do a complete circle on top of the wall system. If anyone visits Dubrovnik it’s imperative that you wander around these walls, we came across houses that were actually built into the wall structure and they had views of the old town and Adriatic. (A true million dollar view) See the pictures but they just don’t do it justice.

So as Shane advised me it’s nearly a year since I left the CEO and it’s gone quickly. A big hi to all, I hope all the systems are still up and running well. I’m glad u guys are keeping up with my Blogs.

and Megz, I can't afford a haircut cause I'm backpackin. So do u wanna send me some money over :> or I'll just have to stay a hippie.

Great to see Cammo's enjoying himself too. Say hi to him. I cant believe you've been gone from CEO for a year - where's it gone??? You've been gone for almost 3 months already hey? Things are great here - I'm loving the Year 6 class - they are a fantastic group of kids and they love the tech stuff too. We have our own wikispace now and are just starting a blog with a school in the UK. Go figure! Take it easy - keep up with the coffee's and beers. Have a thousand for me...... Luv Megz
