The floor of our room is concrete, the size is small bordering on minute, the heat as soon as the air con goes off at 8am is indescribable - can only liken it to the wooden huts that POW's were locked in on the Burma railway! Outside is not much better and we are really looking forward to our days sightseeing in Bangkok! We do have a great kitchen though where we can store food and make breakfast (handy as J always wakes up starving!).

Took the sky train across the city and then the river boat down Chao Phraya River to Wat Po - the home of the reclining Buddha, really difficult to describe the magnificence of the buildings and the Buddha, hope the photo's do it justice. Whilst travelling the river, the stark contrast of the swish hotels and houses that back onto the river with that of the wooden shacks on stilts (actually in the water) where complete families live was really apparant. Took some photo's of the stilt houses - probably our next hostel!

Decided to have a luxury lunch today in posh surroundings went for pumpkin soup (lush) salad, bruschetta, pasta bolognaise, ice cream and drink - 5 quid for the 2 of us! J has got to stop fancying the posh nosh places!

Then we found Kho San Road, bit disappointing really everyone raved about the shopping but Chiang Mai Sunday market left it looking like a small school car boot sale! However, we did manage to get the jeans as promised "Rock and Fountain" for 10 quid a pair (we were ripped off but you try trying them on in the middle of a street in 90 degree plus of heat!) They had better fit!

Returned to our hostel to recover from heat exhaustion and am writing this from the chill out area up on the roof prior to putting it on our blog. J keeps sniffing the air as the night food market is just starting up, and even though we are quite high up the smell of food is all about us - I guess its time to wash, dress and go out to eat again!

We havent really encountered any of the horror scams that we have heard about Bangkok well not yet! So dont worry about us flash packers Lyn!

We will update blog tomorrow following our sightseeing day.

Chessie loved getting your message (we wanted to bring him home too!) We will find a wooden one babe! Love you lots hun xx
