Today was AWESOME!

Woke up nice and early to get to school, and on the way- saw LOADS of live, wild kangaroos!

School was rather uneventful, but I did get to scold some girls who were throwing paper at a boy with Aspergers Syndrome. My first disciplinary act as a teacher!

After school, we (myself, Amy and Erin) were taken to Dubbo for "late night shopping" by Niomi, one of the teachers. (Shops usually close at 4 during the week, but on Thursday they are open later, this is common throughout the state as far as I've seen.) So in we went- we checked out a few malls and ended up at at this bowling place (here bowling or bowls means lawn bowling) eating at their Chinese buffet. It was crazy overpriced and had hardly any veggie things, but overall it was fun! (One of the phys ed teachers from the school works there part time.)

On the way back, Niomi let me drive! Driving on the left side of the road is totally fine, but its weird driving standard with my left hand. It was great!

And on the drive back in we saw HEAPS of 'roos- just tons of them. OH! And the Aboriginal Support Assistant said she is going to get me a real boomerang! Awesome!

Oh, I almost forgot my second embarassing moment- in a store in the first mall we went to- I was talking with Niomi about dinner plans and I went to lean on a wall, but it was actually a poster hanging from the ceiling in the window display. So I totally bailed, nearly taking out two manequins and a few paper lanters that were part of the display. No one was in the store but Niomi and Erin, but I did fall into the display window, so I'm sure tons of people saw. I actually heart my shoudler and elbow, but it was hilarious. I did n't get a picture this time, but I recreated it later on, and I will post the picture as soon as I get back.

So tomorrow we are going on a field trip to some dam. Should be interesting. Saturday we are going to the Zoo. (WE have to get up at 5:00 so we can get to the zoo in time to see the animals while they are active, as they sleep most of the day during the summer here) So its going to be nuts (you all know what a great morning person I am) plus we are going to a teacher party tomorrow night!

Thats it from me! Lots of Kangaroo love from Down Under 😊
Adam

PS- Today I also got to sit in and observe a home ec practical lesson where the kids made delicious chocolate chip/macadamia nut cookies! Delicious! Maybe I should go into home ec!

Hi Just happened to bump into your blog while bouncing around the web. I'm assuming that you're from the the Northern Hemisphere and will be returning and if that's true, I thought that perhaps you should take the opportunity to see the Southern sky at night, if you get the chance. Suggest you try the "Dubbo Observatory", which co-incidentally, is around behind the Zoo...(If it's still operating, that is.) :o) Anyway, I hope you have an enjoyable time here. Cheers. :o)
