I bowled up at the train station on Monday morning to find that the train schedule had changed, I assume to the winter time table.
I spent lunch time shopping for decorations to Christmasify my desk at work (although no where near up to my usual standard, but I didn’t want to scare my new work colleagues quite yet).
Helen, Heloise and Grant came over for dinner on Tuesday night before meeting Matt at Notting Hill to watch the new James Bond movie: Casino Royale.
Unfortunately our quests for a ‘coffee’ prior to the movie was short lived due to the plague of chain coffee houses such as Starbucks and Nero.
However, Casino Royale was brilliant! I loved every minute of it!.. Heloise said that she has never been to the movies with someone so vocal before! hehe.
I prised myself out of bed on Wednesday morning to get to work early and went straight to the internet to try and book tickets for the Princess Dianna 10 year anniversary concert in July 07. Between Helen, Beth, Grant and I, we couldn’t get though on the website or phones to get any tickets - It was as bad
as trying to get tickets for U2 in Auckland!
After I got home on Thursday, I got a call from Irene instructing me to come down and meet her and Emily at The Victoria next door. They were located at the far side of the bar, in the corner. I had to squeeze past an old man (apparently 72 years of age) to get into my seat. He informed me I had brushed my ‘nice firm backside’ past him, and that if I had warned him in advanced, he ‘would have paid extra for that’ - did I mention 72!? I think some people should be left at the nursing home.
He proceeded to talk to us more than the friend he was with, and asked us if we were designers. He was surprised when I told him I was an engineer, apparently that is only for males or German females.
I spent most of Friday getting more and more hungry while waiting until for 3pm to arrive.
We all went down to the local Mexican restaurant, ‘La Hacienda’, for our Christmas lunch. There were about 80 of us there from our department at MWH, so took
Troublesome Trio
Paul, Darren, Hannah over most of the restaurant. There was heaps of food, and that was just the starters!
We played our secret Santa game, continued eating and then headed over the road to the Little Tree for the rest of the evenings mayhem, before catching the last train back to London with Darren and Emma.
It was a good evening, but unfortunately there were no water pistols, nor did we get banned from the restaurant.
Saturday was spent shopping with Irene and Emily. In the afternoon we went caught the national rail over to Bal’s place in Hayes & Harrington (while blowing up balloons) for his yay-my-court-case-is-over-and-I-won celebration!
We caught the train back to London, and were running a bit late as the next scheduled train didn’t arrive at all. We ran home picking up one of Emily’s friends from Paddington on the way.
We rushed over to Embankment to met Ben, Beth, Helen, Grant, Matt and Katie at Motion Bar. Just after I got in the door, mum called from NZ to have a family ring around. It was a bit noisy bit managed to have a quick chat to Mum, Dad, Laura and Trevor.
Balloons for everyone!
Irene & Hannah - On the train to Bal's We danced the night away to cheesy music until the early hours of the morning, and got plenty of photos to record our evening.
Helen stayed over at my place and we stayed in bed on Sunday morning looking through all the photos from the night before.
We went over to Helen’s place with Grant and Beth and spent the afternoon decorating our
real Christmas tree ready for Christmas - I as a bit worried that this would be the first year without a real Christmas tree, but thankfully it was Helen to the rescue as she also shared the same thoughts!
Helen, Grant and I blobbed in front of the TV for the rest of the evening and ordered in Pizza Hut (2 pizza’s for ₤20 = NZ$60! - that’s a lot of pizza! Well, in NZ)
