Although there's much more to do in Mendoza (both in the city and in the province) I opted to take it easy, since this was the tail end of my trip. I visited each of the central plazas and gave each one the time it deserved, including a nap in Plaza Independencia. I sampled some Mendocino wines, both with new friends and in the wineries. And I spent my last vacation day like many Argentines - a Sunday in the park.

Mendocinos flock here in the afternoon to kick back on the grass, lick ice cream cones, give their dogs a place to run around, and help their kids learn to ride a bicycle.

Unsuspecting tourists with their eyes up in the trees, or unsuspecting partiers whose balance isn't the best---Cuidado!!! These ditches channel water (at times, fast-moving) all over the city.

Everywhere in Mendoza, even from the park, you see the Andes.

I was sad to be at the end of my trip but couldn't even make a sad face because a Sunday in the park was just the perfect ending!

I remember those ditch/waterway things! I was terrified of falling into one while walking through town staring at all sorts of things! When will you be home?!?!
