I think this is the 17th day!!! In any case, we made it to Mesquite, NV where Jim and Brenda live. Another very beautiful area surrounded by mountains---SNOW covered! There was even a little snow on the ground yesterday when we arrived! Brrrrrr....I hate it. It has been unseasonably cool here. Today was about 45 degrees which is far too cold for this snowbird!
Last night, Jim prepared a great meal. His pork loin was so moist and delicious. To accompany the meat, he prepared baked sweet potatoes. Mmmmm!! I had never had a baked sweet potato but we all agreed that it was a wonderful treat, smothered, of course, with lots of butter! My diet has gone downhill fast! Brenda shared her Godiva white chocolate liquer which she got from her son, Michael, for Christmas with us in an after dinner coffee! Yum!!!
Jim and Brenda have the cutest kitty named Claire but she HATES me! Brenda told me to just feed her and that she would love me forever. I filled the dish and she came running and so I gave her a little pat on her head which was OK at first and then she HISSED
at me! As Meghan says, she "senses evil"!!! LOL.
Last night we decided to head to the casino, which I generally hate but this casino here in Mesquite was really nice and the smoke was minimal. The Casa Blanca is very pretty. Brenda showed me the finer points of playing the slots and I actually walked away a few dollars heavier! Mike and Jim played many hours of Black Jack and later moved to the craps table and got on a pretty good roll. They each came away with some extra cash! It was fun drinking "free beer" too! When we looked at the clock, it was 4 am!!!!! Needless to say, it was a long night! But FUN!
Besides the casino, we did see the other views of Mesquite. Jim took us on a drive through the gorge. Wow! The scenery never ceases to amaze us! Like many other areas of AZ, this part of Nevada is seeing a huge increase in the construction of new homes. Del Web is putting up 16,000 homes!! Another "Sun City of Mesquite". Mike loves all the golf courses and I have to say that they really are beautiful. Seems like
The Joshua Tree
This was taken just outside of the gorge near Mesquite. the terrain would make the game even harder!
We have really had a great time here with Jim and Brenda. Mike and Jim had a great time acting like two little kids and playing cribbage.
Tomorrow we will head back to Havasu and spend a few days so Mike can finally golf w/ Art. Then we plan to head to Quartzite fo the big RV rally and swap meets. It should be very interesting. It is just a little town that is flooded with thousands of RVers and even more people. You just drop your RV and hang out. There are no "facilities" so we will give our generators a good work out!
More later.......... A quick side note: You can click on any of the pictures for a larger view!
