We got the night bus to Hoi An from Nha Trang on Monday evening, arriving in Hoi An at 7am on Tuesday; we found somewhere to stay & caught up on some sleep. We got up & got ready then had lunch in a lovely cafe sat under a sun umbrella in the rain! We put on our very attractive waterproof jackets & went to explore. We visited the famous Japanese Friendship Bridge & as Hoi An is famous for its tailors we went for a fitting & decided to get a dress & a suit made, (jacket, skirt & trousers), I even got to pick the style out of the Next Directory!

Hoi An is a really pretty town & despite the rain we had a lovely afternoon walking along the Thu Bon River, looking at various pagodas, organising our trip to My Son for the following day & a bus to Hue. Being the shopoholics we are we couldn't resist buying more stuff, (the shops are so nice here it is dangerous), I brought a lovely bamboo lampshade/lantern, a silk scarf for Mom, a silk tie for Dad & a birthday present for Ceri.

On Wednesday we went on our trip to My Son, (pronounced Me Son), declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1999. It was set in the middle of a jungle among some big hills, some parts were a similar style to Angkor Wat in Cambodia, consisting of 70 monuments in about seven groups, built between the early 8th & 15th century. Although some parts had been bombed during the war it was still beautiful & the weather had even brightened up!

We when returned to Hoi An we had some lunch & went to collect our suits & dresses. The lady in the shop loved us & kept hugging us, she looked so proud when we tried them on, they were good. I went for a Navy Blue pinstripe suit & a black dress, Claire went for a brown pinstripe suit & a plum coloured dress. The lady gave us a little patterned bag each. We then spent an hour in the post office trying to send everything home. They don't serve one customer at a time they serve about four & people don't under stand the concept of queuing, (just like China), so they kept picking up my box & then putting it down, it was Claire who got really annoyed this time but hopefully they will arrive home!

It started to rain again but we still had a walk around. Everyone in Vietnam is so friendly & when we went back to a place for dinner we had been for a drink earlier the lady gave me a hug like she had known me for years!

We left Hoi An for Hue on Thursday morning at 8am, stopping off at the Marble mountain near Danang on the way, the weather could not make up its mind as it was sunny again.
