I got up early for another day of work. There was a bit of a queue for the ticket, and missed my train. I also missed the one after it by a matter of minutes - or part there of - which was a little annoying as the train was still in the station when I went to get on it!
I was directed to another train on platform 4, and managed to get to MWH not too late.

At lunch time I went across to Morrison to get some food and found myself buying some pot plants for my desk at work and one for my flat.
I sent in my first time sheet to my recruitment agency today, so hopefully I’ll get paid soon!

On the way home I went to the card shop and found a nice card of London for my Nana’s birthday. Beth came over a short time after I got home to pick up some stuff that she left here during the flat moving / travelling Berlin dramas. We had a chat and looked at some potential sight seeing stuff for next weekend’s trip to Paris.

I went to write in Nana’s

birthday card to find that it was actually a Christmas card and said “Seasons greetings” inside! So I’ll have to go on another card hunt tomorrow.

I got up early again on Tuesday, but didn’t realise that my watch was a minute or two slow from the changes from Berlin, and missed my 8.20am train by about 1.5 minutes.
I managed to catch the 8.23 train without to much bother, plus it was running a little late.

I spent my lunch time looking for a nice birthday card for nana, and in the process managed to find the brown top in M&S that I have been hunting down for ages (yay!), plus a scarf, a jacket and file-folder thing. Then posted Nana’s birthday present back to NZ.

The train was running 10 minutes behind schedule, so didn’t get home until about 7pm. I called mum in NZ almost straight away and had a big long chat to her until about 8.45pm. I gave JJ a quick call and arranged meeting up with him tomorrow after work.

I managed to actually catch my train on Wednesday! We went up to Terriers house for lunch time for presentation

from a ductile iron pipe company, and also got free lunch 😊

Irene had her friend over for dinner for their birthday. We sang happy birthday and I helped them eat some chocolate cake, you know, just to be polite.

I headed towards Leicester Square and met JJ, Caitlyn and Andy outside the tube station. After a bit of wandering around and a catch up, we found a Ben & Jerry’s and had some ice cream - Yum!

We walked down to Trafalgar Square, then on to Big Ben and along the South Bank before catching a tube to our respective homes from the Waterloo Station.

And then the rain came… Thanks to my resonantly new umbrella, I managed to get to work without getting to wet.

For the first time since I started, I actually had something clear and concise to do, that I had to get out by the end of the day. So I had that complete by lunch time, and once again found myself twiddling my thumbs (plus I had eaten all my lunch, so couldn’t snack). I know this won’t last for long!

4.30pm eventually rolled around, and with

the return of Darren to the office, we decided to hit the pub at 5.15pm.

We got ourselves a drink, and people slowly arrived at ‘The Bell’ for Bob’s retirement party pre-drinks. The High Street was blocked off to traffic, and was a mass with people and little kids who had come to see the turning on of the street Christmas lights - they even had a snow machine!!! (which at least fooled Kevin into thinking it was real snow).

We made our way through the masses towards the other end of town for Bob’s Retirement dinner at Bombay Palace.
There was a mountain of food in front of us. I tried all sorts of things including samosa’s and some ‘onion bhajee’ thing. Once we had completely stretched our waistband as far as they could go, we ventured off to The Flacon for a drink.

Kevin kindly drove me, Darren and Emma back home in London to be sure we didn’t miss our last train.

I had another slow start to the day on Friday. Andy had organised a lunch for all the new starters at the Litten Tree. However, as everyone was going there for

round and round we go...
Bob’s last drinks, we all just ended up sitting together.

We got back from lunch just in time to miss rather a heavy hail storm - can’t say I’ve seen one of those in ages!

I left work a little early and caught the 16.47 train back to London to meet Brendan who had come up from Southampton for the Paris trip this weekend. He met me at the Marylebone Train Station and walked me home. However, in the process I somehow lost one of my gloves 😞

We dropped out stuff off out my place then caught the tubes down to Leicester Square. Brendan took me out for a nice dinner at Spaghetti House, near Convent Garden, then decided to go for a cocktail afterwards, and had a walk around Convent Gardens.

He also took me on the Carousel in the middle of Convent Gardens, which was beautifully lit up with 100s of little lights. Lots of fun!

We didn’t get to bed until around 2.30am… somewhat ready for our trip to Paris early tomorrow morning!

(PS: Happy 25th Birthday for Monday Sam!)

There has been a similar one (possibly the same) along South Bank and/or Covent Garden nearer to Christmas some times, but I don't know where its permanent location is, sorry.
