Room 9
The official Room 9 members...
Top Left - Rory, Steve, Me and Farmer John
Bottom Left - Clare, Shaz and Sam (Chink) Wow! If you ever get a chance to.... spend New Years in Sydney!! It is truly Amazing!
I hope you all had a great New Years. 2006 seemed to pass by so quickly, lets hope 2007 doesn't do the same.
So... what have I done since Christmas??
Well for Christmas Eve, Me, Hannah Paul and Karen went to the World Bar... where they played Indie tunes and Christmas music all night (The Perfect Combo!) And when it reached midnight, there was a huge bang of party poppers going off and everyone celebrating with Band Aid 'Do They Know It's Christmas?' in the background. Then I came back to my hostel and celebrated with my room mates by drinking some (I say some...but it was more like alot) of goon. (Goon is another word for Wine out here.... it is so cheap if you buy it in boxes.... about £4.50 for 4 litres!! And it isn't bad tasting...Lindemans make)
Then for Christmas Day. I spent all of the day with Hannah, Karen and Paul. After opening our presents for each other, we had a Christmas lunch round their hostel. Had Turkey, Potatoes, Pasta and Salad. We then walked
Room 9 and Friends
Us at our meal to say goodbye to Veronika down to the botanical gardens. It was such a hot day, and the view from the gardens were great... The Harbour Bridge with the Opera House in front. A really great day. Then in the evening I spent it round their hostel playing games and just chilling out. The rest of the night I stayed up with my room mates till about 5am.
The people who I have shared a room with in Boomerang Hostel have been decent. We have all grown really close. 3 of the girls went to Uni in Guildford (Sam, Clare and Sharon) and 2 Northern lads (Rory and Steve) and then Farmer John (he is from Hereford, and has a farmer accent, so that's we call him that!!) They are all legends. We also have made friends with Hardcore Holly and Crofty (from Newcastle) and Becky from Southampton. Our room 9 is the place to be! So because we have become so close, I haven't seen alot of Hannah, Paul and Karen. But they are busy doing there own thing anyway. There are talks of a room 9 reunion when we all get back to England... which will be cool. I have included pics
of the room 9 legends. We even spent New Years Eve together!
Between Christmas and New Years Eve, we have been down the beach, been chilling in the park and just having a good time really. We went to Indie night again in World Bar on Thursday night....which was Quality!!! Since being in Room 9, we haven't woken up in the morning yet! Mainly because we end up going to bed about 5-6am every morning, as we chat for hours, or drink goon/beer. So most days we have woken up at 2pm. Lazy! But they are a great group of people.
Then New Years Eve, we finally decided on a place to go (difficult because there are so many places to go, but some are too packed, or wont let you take alcohol etc.) But we found a park where we could get a big plot and had a great view of the Harbour Bridge. The previous day, we all (13 of us) chipped in $10 each and bought loads of food. We prepared it all on New Years Eve morning....sandwiches etc... and even a famous 'Bucket of Pasta' (don't ask!) Then went to the park with all
our food and alcohol about 1pm. (We had to get there early to get a good spot). And what a night it was!! We spent most of the day drinking and chilling out. Then the fireworks started at midnight! And they were amazing... over the Harbour Bridge! The walk home in the morning was hilarious! Farmer John had got so drunk, and was falling in bushes and sitting down in the middle of the road!! Soooo funny.
I have also met someone since being here. She's called Lucy and she is amazing. We met at Boomerang Hostel (her and her friend Pascale stayed there for a few nights before New Years) and get on really well. We spent most of New Years together too. It's obviously in the early stages and it's tricky because we are both travelling, but she is great! But it also works out that we will be in similar places at the same time, so that will be cool. She is from Cambridge and is 19 also. Hopefully something may happen when we get back... who knows? I have included a pic of us 2.
I am leving Sydney on 3rd January. I am
flyinf to Melbourne. I am staying with a friend from college (Max Holloway) who has rented a flat in the city centre. So that will be cool. I also have family who live near Melbourne, who I have never met (they are distant family), so it will be nice to see them also.
Hope you are all well, and have enjoyed your New Years and had a great Christmas.
And thank-you for the comments you leave me! They make my day when I read them (and help me miss home even more). Lots of love,
xxx
