A Vacation from the Vacation On A Goan Beach

Goa is a place of pure fun. Frankly, we didn't plan getting there due to its bad image but as often occurs in such trips, plans quickly change. We soon found ourselves in the Israeli colony of Aramabol, a small village in the north part of the state of Goa.

It is Arambol where you find the Rasta-Jaras-Enfield type of Israeli guys. We're talking about 22 year old dudes, fresh out of their military service, who care nothing else aside growing their curly hair, smoke hash from dusk till dawn and ride their bulky Enfield motorbikes with the most serious expression on their faces. It was a bit funny to see them riding this monsterious machines up the "long" way from beach to guesthouse, not more than 200 meters, after a long effort to kick-start the old engine. Bus doesn't pose count?

That said, the place still went through serious change in recent years. The local police started banning parties in an intent effort to attract higher class of tourists (i.e. richer). It is still quite a freak-show down there, with 60 years old men wearing their G-strings on the beach (yach!) but the place is so quite and relaxing, with a white sandy beach, so it really doesn't matter.

We quickly sank into a calm routine of eating, beaching and jogging. It was fun running after 8 months we haven't done so and it surely helped us to lose the extra-calories we consumed from the delicious sea-food.

It wasn't easy to pack our things and leave, but after 2 weeks we just had to, as we still wanted to see parts of South East Asia before returning home.

The Entry Title is taken from The Honeydrippers' ultimate kitsch "Sea Of Love". Isn't that what Goa is all about...? (Lyrics)
