G'day from Auckland! I'm here. Wow. Ok. What now then?

The flights were ok. Virgin was ok, the on-board staff were great with regards looking after my grandmother. Nana thought the Flight Manager was dishy (he was) and I found it amusing that the really nice German flight attendant (who smelt lovely too) was called Manuel (don't mention the war!)... The Air NZ flight was much better. The staff were laid back and helpful and the seats were so much more comfy. Wider (to accommodate one's wider than average arse) and just generally more comfortable. I've managed to watch three movies (My Super Ex-Girlfriend, that wasn't really that super, You, Me and Dupree and ahem.... Superman Returns....).

When we arrived at Los Angeles, after taxying to our bay, the power went out on the plane, and then they couldn't connect the power to the airport! Was cool having the emergency lighting on without having the emergency! Our Air NZ flight was 15 minutes early, but then there was another plane in our bay, so we had to wait for them to shift it. The airport staff assistance with regards wheelchairs and stuff has been good and where it could have been improved, we always got there in the end!

I'm starting to sway with the lack of sleep now though. We didn't sleep on the Heathrow-LAX flight. Note to self: when transferring through airports get a little of that foreign currency for essential water and glittery purchases. Slept for about four hours on the LAX-Auckland leg but an now suffering and swaying. have had breakkie but am hoping lots of water and a Twix will save me from my impending jet lag doom!

We get to the domestic Auckland airport and my nan wonders if we'll recognise my aunt, whom we haven't seen in about three years. Just as she said that a mad little Kiwi woman launches herself upon my nan and from somewhere lots of tears start flowing. Still, have packed nana off to Gizzy now (not wandering around Heathrow still calling my name, as Mike has suggested!!). Mike also asked me how many sheep I've seen. I don't think I have, but I'm sure I'm starting to hallucinate now.

I'm SO looking forward to a swim (if it's heated) and a proper bed to collapse into. But, hey, I'm here! Nana survived the flight rather well. I'm not so sure about me though. My money on this internet machine is about to run out and I need to go and collapse somewhere.

Pools
Yep, pool not heated that much and it was far too cold and rainy last night or this morning to take a dip. Would love to stretch the old muscles out though! We're both in the same part of the world again, cool! ;)
