Rotorua Marathon

Am I crazy or what? First a Mo now a Marathon (Rotorua). I’ve been going to the gym now for seven weeks, six times a week running on the treadmill / elliptical machine for 40 to 60 minutes a day. I’ve had a desire to run a marathon for a couple of years but on Sunday I fell off the fence and found myself in the mind set of a long distance runner. I officially started my training today (Monday) by this weekend I will have my training / diet schedule plan complete and enacted. I have just over five months to prepare, am I crazy or what? Anyone have suggestions for preparing for the “wall”?

Elysa (see Three Crazy Nights) passes through Auckland today on her way to Australia. We headed out to the Auckland zoo before her flight. I must say that while the zoo is on the small side it is well put together and the paddocks are animal friendly. The attached photos are just a few of the interesting animals to be seen.

More on the marathon to follow.

For the longest time we could only see a dark outline of the critter in the water and thought that it was a crocodile.

Hawaii Marathon
Each December when we're on Oahu it is close or on the day Honolulu holds its Marathon. This year there are 26,000 participants, 23,000 of them Japanese. Keep at it and we will meet you next September so you can run the marathon and we can cheer you on well rested and without envy from the sidelines.
