Singapore Skyline
"You're just a small town in Malaysia!" We landed in Singapore at about half 6 in the evening after an 11 and half hr flight. Can't remember if I got any kip on the plane but I was bloody shattered when we eventually reached here. Nice plane though, had some good films on to waste the time away and some decent snap as well. In fact Id go as far as to say the lamb navarin was the best plane food I've ever had! Better than the mothers cooking thats for sure......only joking! We checked into Sam's Sleepy Hostel that night and because they didn't have any spare beds we had to kip on the sofa's in the lounge. Don't think I got any sleep as it was around the 26c mark all night and downstairs hasn't got any air-con. Luckily they had some real rooms available the next day.
Yesterday morning we took the underground to the harbour and got the cable car over to Sentosa Island which has a few palm tree covered beaches and loads of touristy attractions. After navigating our way through some jungle on the nature trail we reached the underwater aquarium which was a bit tame to be honest. It was
Sentosa Island
Siloso Beach, not a patch on blacky geared towards the kids so 2 old codgers like us saw everything pretty quickly. it had a Stingray pool there where you feel them as they swam past. Always had my eye on the ball though as I know they can get nasty this time of year! As part of the ticket price for the aquarium we got to see the Pink Dolphin show on Palawan Beach which was a short walk away. It was a bit cheesy but the dolphins were well trained and couldn't half leap out the water. One of them flew to about 3 metres and overhead kicked a football tied to a pole. Kept thinking to myself that Barnsley should sign the lad up. He had some talent! As part of the show the trainers asked for 2 audience members to get into the water and they said that you'd be upto neck height. A young english girl volunteered as well as this Indian bloke who was dressed in his work gear. He had the work shirt, trousers, belt as well as an expensive gold watch. Not sure he heard the "upto neck height" part as he looked a bit unsure when he wading into
ankle level before been asking to get in deeper. Watching the old boy nervously getting in deeper and deeper was chuffing hilarious! On the way back we crossed a wooden rope bridge to the Southernmost point on Continental Asia although this is apparantly hotly disputed by Malaysia. It seems hard to believe myself as there's islands to the side which stick out more. The beaches here look like their man made but they look pretty good. They're all covered in Palm trees and I would have ligged out today but there's been "light drizzle" so I it wasn't worth it. Only time it's really rained on this trip and I've been through the alps twice!
On our way back to the hostel, we called at the self proclaimed, "Biggest Fountain in the World" - The Fountain of Wealth. I'm not exaggerating here but I reckon I could piss higher. After all the build up, it's about 6 foot diameter. I think by biggest they meant the highest as I've seen pictures of it shooting straight up. It's not in the same league as the one in Barcelona that's for sure.
In the evening we took a jaunt to
Mount Faber
View of Sentosa Island. This is where the cable car ended up Boat Quay to get some snap. As I've not had any proper meat for a while I decided to go for the Venison with black pepper sauce and egg fried rice. It set us back around $29 each which is about a tenner. A bit pricier than the usual Burger King meal so I made sure to not wolf it down like usual. Not had a meal like that for a long time. Afterwards we took a strole to Clarke Quay which is the main drinking area around here. We ended up at the Crazy Elephant which had a jamming session going. Anyone who brought their guitar could have a dabble onstage mainly playing the blues. The pints were a bit pricey but it was quality just sitting there listening to the live music. I was almost tempted to get onstage and knock out some Hendrix, Stonebridge style!
Not many pictures this time I'm afraid, heading to Melbourne tonight so hopefully I'll be able to get my picture with some Neighbours birds, a challenge set by my favva
Catch thi later

You're half a day ahead of us
Funniest blog yet lad. Like your style. Its a bit strange being half a day behind you. You're writing in the middle of the night as far as we are concerned and I suppose its the same for you. Probably on your way to Melbourne now, so let us know when the "Eagle" lands. Papa
