These could be found on every street corner (and still can be)... Chávez paid his propagandists verrrry well!
This is just a short little hello to ya'll. Im a little miffed... Coro is NOT a beach town. DO NOT BE FOOLED!!!! We arrived at 5:30am from the night bus from Merida (i was soooo sad to leave that town, and our amazing posada!), and as soon as we stepped off the bus we were SMOKIN hot. We managed to dodge our way through the creepy taxi drivers and walked the 2.5km to the city centre. With our bags. Easier than it sounds!
This town is beautiful in its arquetecture, but that's about it. We are literally stuck here until at least Monday, as the elections are on Sunday (not Monday like i thought) , and there is actually a national law that says people arent allowed to leave their houses on the day of an election save to go to the polls and cast their vote. Aka, no restaurants, no stores, no nuthin'!!! (and most of all, NO BUSES OUT OF HERE!!)
Luckily we're in a pretty good posada run by a crazy French family... so we'll just ride out the elections until Monday, when hopefully I'll be able to get down to Angel Falls by the beginning of

Banners this this hang all over EVERY city in Venezuela. The elections are all that people are talking about!
next week.
We're gonna try and see a few things around the area tomorrow, but the transportation here is iffy, at best. Wish me luck!!

I've successfully spent 1 day short of 3 weeks here, and I just wanna say I miss everyone soooo much, and I love you all... and thank you for your emails and all the wonderful support and comments and laughs we've been sharing! The only thing that would make this trip any better would be if I could be sharing it with my family and friends! One day!!

So much love!
Callie

In the middle of nowhere, where we thought we were free from the election hyperness that has overtaken Venezuela, here we found houses plastered with Chávez posters. We just couldn´t escape!

So lucky
Wow Callie, I just caught up on reading your blog. What an amazing (and sometimes scary!) experience! I think I'd be too chicken to do a lot of the things you have done! Love the updates, keep 'em coming.
