Living the lives of retirees and snowbirds, we have so many opportunities to enjoy ourselves and have some great fun times! We hope you can enjoy some of these festive occasions along with us. Remember: the more the merrier!
Halloween at Tropical Palms was almost a week long in celebration. YAHOO! Our activity director, Janet, and her assistant, Cindy, have really been working hard to make sure there are plenty of things to do here at the park to keep everyone happy. They are succeeding! They organized a Halloween golf cart parade…..actually two of them….but we only participated in the first one. We decorated our golf cart with lights, pumpkins and skeletons. Cory was very scary in his Skelton mask (just in case you didn’t recognize him). Dave was brave and unafraid to jump on board with Mr. Bonehead. Eeeeek!
Our neighbor friends, Steve & Mary, and Sam & Sandy, joined us as we sat along our roadway waiting for the Trick or Treaters to pass by. We had many great costumed kiddos come along for their treats. Mary was handing out their candy by double handfuls so they liked her best! Hope you got some good treats and
no tricks!
And the festivities didn’t end here. The next evening, Tropical Palms hired an excellent band to entertain us at a Halloween dance. They were a group from Lakeland and played tunes from our generation…..music from many years ago. The familiar songs got us all up and dancing or tapping our toes. I moved muscles that I haven’t used in a year…..Yoweee! It was a great time. Unbelievably, I could actually move the next day. How about you?
More and more of our Tropical Palm’s friends are coming back “home.” It is terrific to see them all again. Our latest pot luck dinner was bountiful because many more folks were there. It was mighty tasty and in close competition to the Golden Corral. Oh, yummers!
Our daily morning coffee under our canopy is filling up nicely….all because our good friends are back at TP. We still are missing a couple but they should be along soon. Hail, Hail…The Gangs All Here! And we are so glad you are, too!! Cory is thinking about building a parking garage to make it easier for our friends to park their golf carts.
Cory was dripping with happiness when
our friend, Steve, invited him over to watch the Sunday night Buffalo Bills game. He donned his favorite Buffalo Bills shirt and we pranced over to Steve’s site with our chairs. We sat in the Upper Deck while Mary and Steve sat on the playing field! Yup…..it was just like we were in the stadium because Steve has a 120” screen (it can go to 150”!!) with a laser TV projector. OMG! The players were bigger than us. The picture has fantastic clarity. It was completely awesome and better yet….the Bills won! Go Bills! Thanks, Steve and Mary.
Sporty Cory decided to run a World Series Baseball pool here at the park. We posted it on a group site as well as in the lobby. He rode around on the golf cart getting participants to buy a block….$1.00/block. P-L-E-A-S-E buy a block or two. He got pretty good results but as the time drew closer, he still had a few empty blanks! Oh,dear! He had me go down to the Buffalo Bingo playing ladies to see if they would join this pool. Thank God for them….they came through like troopers and filled the sheet up completely! God love them!
The first baseball game ended and we had a winner…..Sonny was the winner. Congratulations! He was happy to collect his $100 and we were happy for him. Sonny….aka Mr.Lucky now. One game was enough for us…..no more pools in the future. It was a lot of work and that’s what we gave up a long time ago. It’s fun to get up each morning and wonder what you will do for the day…..sometimes it’s NOTHING. That’s fine with us…..how ‘bout you?
I know you are used to us sharing our sustenance consumption with you so we don’t want to disappoint….you are welcome (I’m pretty sure I heard hoots and clapping)….. 🎶Beautiful Dreamer🎶. Anyway….Sam, Sandy, Cory and I went to one of our most favorites places to dine. Where is that?…..you ask. Guess……hint: seafood…..yup! Bar Harbor! Sandy and I always want their lobster….always! They had their luncheon delight of twin Main lobsters with drawn butter for $19.98. Just like everything else nowadays….their prices have gone up but you can’t get two big lobsters for that price in any restaurant….ever. So we cracked and picked every bit of lobster meat out of these tasty crustaceans until they were as hollow as
a PVC pipe! I’m drooling just recalling eating them. Here’s a helpful hint in case you don’t do this: instead of cutting up through the underside of the tail…..break off the tail fins!! Then you can pull or push the lobster tail meat out easily in one nice piece. So much easier than the cutting process. Ooooooo…….sooooo gooood!
Our park has been very busy sprucing itself up. Tree trimmers have been in…..cutting down some big trees. It’s fascinating to watch how they do it with cranes, etc…..all so they don’t damage any cottages or property. They know how to do it and they do it well. Firewood anyone?
Just a reminder…..it’s time to set all your clocks back one hour. Yippeee….we get an extra hour of sleep in the morning. It’s kind of a pain to change all the clocks …..at least the one in our car is easy now. It used to take hours to figure it out…..oh, suck it up Buttercup!
Okay….had enough? In case we don’t get right back to you, Have a Happy Thanksgiving! We are thankful to each one of you for being a part of our lives. 😁😁❤️❤️ 16 photos …so
remember to keep scrolling until you find them all.
