Cheetah with a killCheetah with a killCheetah with a kill

Mmmmmmm, tasty!
Fi chose to skip the final early morning game drive, but I went out with Simon to see if we could find a leopard. No luck there, but we did see a cheetah with a kill, as well as a pair of lions who had killed a baby hippo.

We both felt pretty sad when it came time to say our goodbyes to the staff. They had all been so friendly and helpful, it was almost like staying with friends. We were both pretty quiet on the drive out to the airstrip. I guess we were reflecting on what a great time we’d had, together with the experience of getting married.

The flight back from the Mara was uneventful. David, Terry and Jo’s driver met us at Wilson airport with the rest of our luggage and both us across the city to JK international.

We were flying to Jo’berg on South African Airlines, who are, quite simply, rubbish. It’s like how I remember flying was ten years ago - very little legroom, no seat back TV, just one of those TV’s suspended from the ceiling too far away to be able to see it clearly. On top of

that, the food was terrible. The only good thing was the staff, they really tried their best.

A limo met us at the airport and drove us to the Intercontinental Palazzo. By this time it was about 9.30pm and we were both bushed from the day’s travelling. We had a shower, ordered room service and crashed out in the huge bed.

Congratulations!
Hi Ben and Fi - just been catching up on your travels (oh and I think you got married too didn't you!). Well I never thought the day would come, but I've seen the photographic evidence, so I guess it must be true. Seriously, I wish you both all the very best, you take good care of each other. All this talk of game drives and the Mara makes me reflect on our time there a couple of years ago - it is absolutely amazing and though you don't necessarily wish for rain storms they are spectacularly dramatic aren't they? We did not see a leopard either though - maybe next time. Look forward to reading the next installment of your travels soon and seeing you when you get home. Love Linda, Chris, Bradley, Barney and Diesel xxx
