"Bangkok is an oriental setting, and the city doesn't know what the city is getting". -the words of poet sir Murray Head, 1986

Day one was not as scary as i thought it was. Bangkok is more dveloped and tourist friendly thn i thought. Its been a little difficult because we had to check out of ou hotel at noon and just wander around the city all day until our flight at 11pm. after walking so much my legs are getting pretty sore and i am beggining to wish that i had worn in my thongs a bit more- oh well.

For those of you who were under the imression that i was goig to India, don't worry your not that daft, i'm only spending this one day in Bangkok for transit.

The day began with a cab ride down to the main shops and khao San road, our cab driver had to stop and visit his friend on the way,

One of the best things about traveling through markets in a city like Bangkok, is that you get to a as rude as your inner prick desires. when people walk beside you and tug on you shirt, turning and saying "no" and greasing them off is infact quite a lot of fun. Maybe i'll bring this concept back to Melbourne.

I'm already beggining to mis home a bit, and i don't know what to expect in Kolkatta.

Hey thats me!
Thought i'd better jump on sam's blogosphere-bandwagon! I'm the guy in the photo eating, which is where you'll usually find me. I'm traveling with wilko for the first month of his trip then i hop off at dehli to see Europe for another month before heading home. Bangkok was awesome and i wish we had more time there. As Sam and i have said to each other a few times, it was really good to see a modern Asian city before heading to Kolkata, to get into the swing of things travel-wise. Bangkok reminds me alot of living in Hong Kong so it was nothing all that new but it was still great to see. If you ever go to thailand, you should really check out that Golden Buddha at Wat Tho, the photos could never do it justice. hope you enjoy Sam's account of the trip! Nick
